Nigeria's House of Representatives on Tuesday asked Sports Minister Tamuno Danagogo to ensure as a matter of urgency that the country's suspension by Fifa is lifted.
A motion sponsored by Mohammed Wudil and adopted by the house, urged the Minister and the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Gbenga Elegbeleye to ensure an immediate out of court settlement.
In presenting his motion, Wudil pointed to the adverse short and long term effects the suspension would have on Nigerian footballers, starting with the Under 20 girls who would be excluded from taking part in the World Cup starting next month.
As an extension of the motion, Rep Zakari Mohammed also urged the House to repeal Decree 101 and enact an enabling law that would be in line with Fifa Statutes.

Maigari set for reinstatement

Nigeria have managed to beat the deadline set by FIFA as Aminu Maigari and his hitherto ousted management board are set to be reinstated.

The new development comes after the High Court in Jos, which granted the earlier restraining order against Maigari's board, vacated the order which had prevented Maigari and his board from administering Nigerian football.

FIFA had demanded for the withdrawal of the court case as well as the reinstatement of the Maigari-led board of the Nigeria Football Federation as conditions for lifting the suspension placed on Nigeria.

The world football governing body also extended the deadline for compliance to July 17, in a bid to save Nigeria's participation in the U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup, as well as for a male African U-17 Championship qualifier this weekend.

Maigari and his board are expected to resume their duties today and continue their normal functions until next month's elections.

The country is set to receive news of the lifting of its suspension from the governing body after meeting requirements to withdraw a law suit that removed the Aminu Maigari board

There was anxiety at the headquarters of the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday as officials sent final details of the resolution of the crisis in the organization to Fifa.
After the withdrawal of the law suit filed against the leadership of NFF by Mrs. Ebiakpo Baribote, there was expectation among officials as they awaited word from Fifa that the suspension would be lifted.
although the case has been withdrawn from the High Court in Jos, Plateau State, the documentation had been processed and sent to Fifa.
An official at the government House said that he expected FIFA to make public the lifting of the suspension on Friday.(today)
“The documentation as regards the withdrawal of the case is being done as I speak [around 6.30pm]. The document will soon be sent to Fifa and I am sure Fifa will react accordingly latest Friday. We don’t need to travel to Switzerland to deliver the document, we only need to send it through e-mail,” the official told Goal.
Meanwhile, there was rejoicing in the camp of the Nigeria U20 Women's team on Thursday when news filtered in that the law suit had been withdrawn.
The Falconets have been the first casualties of the Fifa suspension as their proposed trip to Canada to participate in next month's Fifa U20 Women's World Cup has been put on hold.
