Very sensible comment from unbiased mind... Most of the players that played in the second round of the World Cup were not selected for Pre-season club tour matches .they were given more days of break . So I don't understand what the op is talking about .

Bad belle OP! They were left to rest just like other players whose teams went beyond the first round of the world cup. Not just chelsea, but most of the big clubs.

Infact Robin Van Persie is exempted from pre-season by his coach.

By the way, the fact that a player is featured during the pre-season tour, doesn't mean he is guaranteed a starting shirt in the coming season. If na lie, ask Michael Essien and Kevin Debruyne.

Most times, clubs don't feature their key players a lot during pre-season tour to guard against injuries. Fringe players are used more to give them the opportunity of winning a place in the team.

Mikel had all chances to redeem his image but he blew it up..

IMO this is nothing but poor journalism. obviously players that reported to the camp were players that either didn't make it to the world cup or those that didn't make it past the group stage. others were given extra break. if not those this mean that likes of oscar, willian , hazard and schurlle are not needed in Chelsea. like I said POOR JOURNALISM

Mikel I knw @ the U20 WC then is not the Mikel of nw. hw I wish he signed for Man Utd then he would have retained his pace and speed as midfielder. But due to love of money he signed for morinho and Chelsea, and Morinho converted his future deep backward. Now same Morinho has sent him packing.

This is the same Mikel that Man Utd and Chelsea were supposedly fought over. Why is it that the potential of Nigerina players does not get maximised.Do they relax when their is money or what? You'll see people like Ribery, Robben etc. They had potential 7-8 years ago and now the potential has metamorphosed into true reality. I don't understand.
