Sheikh El-Zakzaky Speaks On Clash Between Shiites And Nigerian Troops: ‘We Were Armless And Never Armed In Our History’  Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky Photo Credit:Islamic Movement of Nigeria The leader of Nigeria’s Shiites Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, whose three sons were killed yesterday Nigerian troops in Zaria said the Shiites were armless and never armed themselves in their history. Zakzaky said in a brief telephone interview: “We were armless during our procession, and they shot us after we ended our procession, the whole world knew our history, we have never armed ourselves. We are waiting for the lies that they will tell. “We were just helpless while the soldiers shot us with impunity; we have children, women and even the aged in our procession. We had this procession in many parts of the country, and nothing happened and for almost 40 years we have been doing this. “They shot our brothers and sisters; my son Mahmud, who came from a university in Beirut, was shot on his stomach and died on the way to the hospital. They came back and arrested three of my sons alive and killed two while in their custody. How did they arrest my children without resistance? Our submission to the Nigerian authority is not in doubt hence they took them away. And so what lies are they telling? “They took Ahmad, Hameed and Ali with them; Ahmad and Hameed are chemical and neurotics engineering students in China. It was my fourth son there, Ali, who had a gun wound that confirmed that the soldiers have killed his two brothers, and they were all arrested alive.” He also said that, the action of the soldiers was premeditated and clearly clearly extra-judicial killing: “If you are accusing someone of committing an offense, you must carry out prosecution according to the law of the land, but why kill people with impunity? Even if you say we have breached the law, then you must look for the leader and try him in an open court. Nobody will blame the Army because you don't step on a cobra's tail and not expect it's venom. The Sheik should just keep quiet and accept his fate. There must be something very wrong in the world when people blame a man for his own death at the hands of his aggressors! I blame the army who should have learnt from the extra-judicial killing of bh leader that led to the current mess we are in, until we can follow due process in this society we live in, we are doomed to face relentless oppression from the many evil leaders. despite the tense arguments and debates and exchanges we have had on this forum, at this point in time i must show gratitude to BetaThings and Vedaxcool for their humanity and show of support to the oppressed, who this time around happen to be innocent fellow Nigerians at the receiving end of trigger happy soldiers who only God knows what was their motives and who instigated them. only if Muslims can unite and put our differences aside, we would be able to put Islam in a better position and the rights of Muslims at the limelight. those innocent civilians gunned down were supporting their brothers in Islam in far away Palestine who are presently living in the hell of Israeli terror and genocide. may Allah (swt) reward you both for standing with the oppressed. a word of truth at the face of oppressors and tyrants is an act of worship. may Allah (swt) accept your fasting and prayers and all acts of ibadah during this holy month of Ramadan and may you witness many more to come.  1 Like |

May Allah forgive the muslims who lost their lives. May He grant this father courage and more Iman to bear the loss. This country, Nigeria, has really gone to the dogs. How could you arrest people alive, then summarily murder them? This is just totally shameful and if GEJ fails to address this and bring the culprits to book, Nigeria has a horror/scary thing coming. |

@ jassie, Knock it off. Even if you are a victim of Boko haram acts, even if it were questionable to lead such peaceful protest in this season, how can you sound as cold as those militants in this case where the Sheikh lost 3 sons? Wrong place, wrong time but it is highly unlikely for a shiite to join Boko haram. RISE ABOVE HATE |
