do i really need up to 5 years experience before i can take the exam?

also, is it necessary to have a B.Sc first?

The answer to both questions is NO
You can write with zero years experience.However,you are expected to get the required experience within five years after passing the examination.

The experience requirement can be broken down like this:
a)No BSc degree but with five years experience before writing the examination
b)No BSc degree + passing the exam= five years experience after passing the exam
c)BSc degree= Waiver of two years out of the five years experience requirement
d)MSc degree in a recognized school:one year waiver out of the five years experience requirement
e) Financial Audit Experience: Maximum of one year waiver out of the five years experience

*Attend a good tutorial centre(I attended AJ Silicon Consults,Ikeja)
*Practice 100% of the test questions and answers (pay a lot of attention to the notes at the end of each questions)
*Hang out with IT gurus and learn practicals from them
*Visit your datacenter on excursion if you are working
*Subscribe to the ISACA Journal
*Understand the OSI and TCP/IP Models(You may not pass if you don't)

Passing the CISA Examination does not fully prepare you for the challenges of IS Auditing.After passing the exam,you need to carefully pick an area of specialization in any of the wide fields in IT such as Networking,Software,Database etc.
This means to really stand out,you need to couple your CISA certification with training and certifications such as CCNA,CCNP, CCIE,OCA,OCP,OCM,CIW,MCSD etc.
A CISA with associated IT certifications will have an edge in an ever-competitive IT Audit world

Passed the ISACA's CISA Certification Exam and here are some advices that helped me pass the exam. Try to learn from any video course provider for CISA. Personally I did use CBT Nuggets. They are good and short. You can complete their Video Course for 12 hours. I did run the video course for 4 weekends in a month.

Additionally you should practice with the Exam Prep's there are a lot and pretty much all are the same. Personally I did use an app from app store called CISA Certified Information Systems Auditor - Exam Prep. It is very convenient and practical to have the practice exam in your hands at all time "I was literally practicing even when I went to the toilet" the benefits of technology.

You should be able to pass after all of this. I hope this was helpful enough.

The CISA certification is an International certification.Passing the exam places you on a global pedestal for recruiters.ISACA(the body setting the exam has a career page on its website).All Banks in Nigeria has an IS Audit Department and believe it or not,the cashless policy of the CBN is going to open up a lot of opportunities for IS Auditors

You need to understand what works for you.If you do not have a strong technical background,I will advise you go for a tutorial class but it all depends on what you think suits you best.
