African natives found an effective way to capture monkeys. They would hollow out a coconut, cut a small hole in one end, and drop in four or five stones. They would then secure the coconut to the ground and wait for a victim to come along.

It wasn’t long until a curious monkey saw the coconut with the hole in it. He would put his hand into the hole and grab the stones. The monkey then wouldn’t be able to pull his hand out as long as he held onto the stones. He wouldn’t let the stones drop out of his hands because he was curious to see what they were. The natives would sneak up behind the creature and whack!—monkey soup.

The devil has an effective way of dragging sinners to Hell. He knows that many will hold onto sin, even if it means the death of them. Encourage sinners to come to their senses—to let go of sin and escape the power of death.

A woman frantically called her husband and said, "Honey, be careful. I know you're on the 405 and I've just heard on the news that a driver is going the wrong way!" He answered, "What do you mean 'a' driver is going the wrong way? There's hundreds of them!!!"
Until we come to the Saviour we are deluded into thinking that our way is the right way: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death" (Proverbs 14:12).

Hatred, rape, abortion, alcoholism, drug abuse, anger, prejudice, murder, greed, child abuse, hate crimes, drinking and driving, bullying, and domestic violence.
These are just the tip of the iceberg of the problems that infect secular society. They are symptoms of the disease of sin—the persistent pandemic that forever plagues the human race. Albert Einstein was right when he said, “It is easier to denature plutonium than to denature the evil spirit of man.”
These social issues are like stubborn leaks in an old house in a rain storm. If we stop one, another breaks through right beside it.
God gives us a brand new roof when we are born again. However, it is important to remember that the gospel wasn’t given by God to clean up sinful society. It was given to save us from death and Hell, and through it, the symptoms of sin subside.
