Being a Nigeria, you must have witnessed or heard about police arresting suspects in your neighbourhood. Also i've seen a case whereby just through a neighbour reporting another they arrest individuals, just as we see in films. Why don't Nigerians use their human rights or don't they know their rights. Share your thoughts.

The Police Act empowers police officers to arrest people on reasonable suspicion that the person committed an offence ( see section 24 of the Police Act) unless the nature of the offence is such that the person cannot be arrested without a warrant of arrest.
On the other hand, a search warrant is almost always required before a search can be conducted, the only exception I know of is the right of the Police to stop and search vehicles

The Police Act should be reviewed and the excess powers conferred on the Police should be curtailed as some of them appear to even dovetail into the powers of the FRSC
