One of the most important responsibilities of any administrator is to make regular backups. My previous post featured MySQL Workbench which can perform similar functionality. However, we are going to be looking at a PHP-based solution that can make the whole work seamless i.e MySQLDumper.

Technically, you can install MySQLDumper on another remote server, and use cron job to automate the tasks so that you do not need to monitor the process directly. MySQLDumper can even backup a database and mail you the backed up database as an attachment. In case you dont wish to start downloading an attachment, well, MySQLDumper can even send you notification mails that your backup has been completed.
