LesbianBoy: Davido is meant to be on the list na! Can you consider him for a Lifetime African music award ? Make una wake up biko.. When were they born when Psquare , Tu baba, Logomba and D banj were already releasing albums since 2002 ? David should still be a 10 year old boy by then.. Nah small small shaa, in the next 5-10 years Davido and Wizkid could make the list.. 1 Like |

Tval: I think popularity features includes, an artiste fan base (which could be assessed through the number of followers the artiste has on twitter, facebook, instagram and nairaland), how an artiste music/film is being marketed outside his/her house/street/local government/state/country/continent, and finally international awards won by the artiste.obviously a teenager, mentioning Davido & Wizkid wen legends are talked about. hatux: I really agree with your number one, I thought I was gonna see the likes 'wizkid, davido and sorts...people don't really know wizkid outside naija, in south africa for instance, they don't really know wizkid in d whole of southern africa. Davido is trying with skelewu and his collabo with mafikizolo. Wizkid, just like olamide might b kings in naija but they have not been generally known in southern africa. I can't say about other parts of africa. And p square should b number 1 from naija. These dudes r d most popular acts from naija. As for genevieve, what can I say? I love her die.if wishes were horses genevieve would b my wife. |

Born August 13, 1956 in Kisangani (then , the city was called Stanleyville and the country was called the Belgian Congo ), it is at the top for more than three decades. Sierra Leonean father and a Congolese mother , one whose mother nicknamed Koffi, already small , has become one of the most influential artists and the most beloved of his continent . It is all ready the Guinness World Record for largest number of nicknames. He is Mr. Christophe Antoine Agbepa Mumba . Known around the world under the pseudonym Koffi Olomide . Since his first album entitled " Ba Joy " in 1978 , it continues to create and adopt nicknames . It has: Koffi as called his mom and then , Antoine Makila Mabe which means "bad blood child " because the artist was born very sickly , so that you did not give him many years before him. Then, there's Koffi Olomide that the world knows ... and came through the ages a variety of denominations. As likes to repeat the Congolese singer - musician, every era has their tastes, habits and preferences. This sounds like the signs of the times to mark an indelible imprint each year among the common people. The charismatic boss of International Latin Quarter is a living legend. Nothing to say, it is the African artist who has hatched , grow , respect, get respect , give , impose, to enjoy the world face incredible challenges , dare, cause , man records the most demented , inexhaustible trainer father, a mentor , to name a few ... He is known especially other names such as Papa Plus; Tcha - Tcho , The Life Of Commmes Zaires ; Eza Mayi , Papa Top ; Mukulu Kulu ; Effrakata ; Fololo Papa , Papa Happiness , Rapid Intervention Force ; Golden Star , World No. 1 ; Quadra Kora Man , Grand Mopao ; Mopao Mokonzi , MM , High Priest Mother ; Nzambe Ya Ba Na Africa Golden Ball , BB Taste , Favorite Dish , Na Didi Papa , Papa Mourinho ; Mopao Sarkozy , Barack Obama , Young Pato , Guardiola , Rambo , Central Market , Acram - Oje ; Zando Ya Munene , Pure Again ; Patrão the Cinco Estrelas ; Koffi Central , and the newest is Thirteenth Apostle gives it a prelude his upcoming album of the same name in 2014 1 Like

A good list yes. However, I didn't see the likes of Koffi Olomide of Congo, Youssou N'dour of Senegal, Atif Assamani of Chad, Cheb Khaled of Algeria, Oumou Sangare of Mali, Salif Keita of Mali, Fatou Guewel of Senegal, Thomas Mapfumo of Zimbabwe, Culture of Ethiopia, Oliver Mtukudzi of Zimbabwe, Hugh Masakela of south Africa, Sunny Ade of Nigeria, KWAM1 of Nigeria (no Owambe is complete without them), and many others who are even more popular than their presidents. They all have massive fan base/following here in Europe. When I seen someone from Senegal, the 1st person I think of is Youssou N'dour. When I see my friends from Zimbabwe, Thomas Mapfumo comes to mind. If not that their president Robert Mugabe is very popular world over (for the wrong reasons), I wouldn't have known he existed. 3 Likes |
