Here is a guideline on how to know the application that is consuming data on your android phone.
Below I'm going to list the steps of procedure to follow to help you do that:
1. Go to google play store and download an application called DATA MANAGER.
2. After installing the app, open it and click on the option button at the top right hand corner on ur screen and go to PLANS, next go to PLAN TYPE and do the necessary settings according to the data bundle you have on your phone.
With this, you can easily know the app that is consuming your data and if it is the one that is not often used, you can stop it from working or uninstall it.

Now, how do you stop an app from consuming data?
Follow these steps:
Note: this is only for those with android version 4.0 sandwish, 4.1 and 4.2 jellybean and 4.3 kitkat.
1. Go to settings on your phone
2. Click on data usage
3. Ensure mobile data is ON
4. Switch on SET MOBILE DATA LIMIT TOO as it is necessary
5. After setting your data limit on the provided graph, scroll down and you will see the list of apps that are consuming data on ur phone.
6. Click on the one you'll like to disable.
7. Scroll down and you will see RESTRICT ALL DATA OPTION, click on it and click ok in the dialogue box it will bring.
Thats all. With this, you can reduce those apps that are consuming your data.
