Hi all.

My wife sought medical attention of a Dr. regarding fibroid she was earlier diagnosed of & was told dat based on d present nos. & size, d only better way out of it is to remove her womb completely beocs d fibroid seems 2 surround almost all d sides of d womb.

He maintained that if any other Dr. tells her to get only d bunches of fibroid removed they wil only succeed in giving her life complications or murdering her altogether.

We are really scared at dis stage since we hv no child(ren) yet since we are married.

Pls what are d implications? Or side effects? Is d womb removal a matter of life and death?

Thanks for your care.

The womb removal won't kill her but will prevent her from having any offspring. Are u prepared to live without a heir??

It is not a matter of life and death, i know someone that did the same but it was after giving birth to all her children. Since u're still believing God for your own children why not build up your faith and go to MFM Prayer city you will surely have a testimony instead of going for hysterectomy.

Madam please don't bring religion into every matter. OP knows about the MFM and Chosens before he sought medical assistance. OP if u have the financial capacity I'd advice you fly your wife to better hospital outside the continent, who knows they may remove the fibroid without complicating her life.

Please go for a second doctor, and forget about church, you can try if you can make it with IV but I have a girlfriend she had the same and she take a kid from an orphanage because it was not possible.

The doctors is there for a sick body and the pastor is for a sick soul.

Am quite touched by your post. Faced a similar situation 9 years ago,was told by a team of american doctors in nigeria that my womb may be removed due to the no and positions of d fibroid in there but I pleaded witH them to still try and remove the fibroids without tampering with my womb. In the end 22 pieces of varying sizes of the tumor was removed and today am a joyful mother of 3. I hope u are encouraged, there is always light at the end of a tunnel. Like others have said seek a second and even a third opinion.

Pray and get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. I know countless couples in your situation.

My friend's sis was told she'd never have a kid till the fibroid was removed, infact it would damage her womb. Had a son this year. Same with my sister (she even got her medical diagnosis in UK, she's a medical person. Now has 2 annoyingly noisy boys). My friend and cousin are still waiting for their own kids, but we're all hopeful.

No-one knows how your story will end. I know someone who adopted and then her daughter came along 10 years later, then every year after a child would come, so she had 3 more kids.

Don't start running helter-skelter seeking miracles. A lot of people go to MFM church and then say they got a miracle. I believe God knows our fate, and it's not always tied to "I attended this church and my miracle came". Pray deeply, inwards, submit to God and don't leave that path after. And get a 2nd professional medical opinion.

I respect MFM, but I've heard where they gave some "spiritual" tablets to someone, to cure him. It made him worse.

Adoption is good and should be encouraged among our people. Better if done without any particular expectation of reward from God but rather from the perspective of helping a fellow human being in need.
I also know someone who adopted and later got babies of her own, including twins cool

@OP, it is well with you and Madam. I only want to support your seeking other opinions like others have suggested. My own womb was full of fibroids and while several doctors wrote the womb off insisting I must undergo myomectomy, some even suggested hysterectomy, but only one doctor stood out and gave me hope, the rest is history, I was still able to carry a pregnancy to term even with the fibroids intact shocked.

If you can afford seeking help outside the country, please go ahead. Otherwise, here in Naija, there are several other seasoned and competent gynaecologists that can help your wife, don't take the opinion of one doctor as verdict. You can link up with the previous posters who/whose relations had undergone myomectomy in the past for further referral.

As the Lord lilves, you will soon sing a new song.

If your wife goes on a water fast for like 30 days or more, her body will start to feed on the stored fats and latter on cancerous cells, fibroid etc
It was the natural way of healing the body of infirmities. if you are willing, then do not allow any one to discourage you.

The Gynecologist, Surgeon and other doctors at Emel Hospital, Festac are very good. Also, there's a clinic where they do the fibroid removal surgery (it's off Adeniran Ogunsanya, don't know the name sha). Mecure has a consultant Radiologist, so she can do her scans there and they can run all the tests you need, they also have a team of doctors that can refer you outside the country (they mostly send people to India). There's a hospital in Abuja (it's very popular and they're quite good too). Will get you more details.

@ops, I have a sister with a similar predicament like yours, she was referred to UCH in 2010. Try and book an appointment with Prof. Fawole in UCH, he was the one that led the team of doctors that carried out the surgery on her successfully without womb removal.
The second option is if you can take her to U.k for the surgery. The Clinics in the U.k make use of laser technology to carry out fibroid surgery.

Do serious research and look for gynaecologist with experience in myomectomies for large multiple fibroids. Co-opt all your medical friends and relations to search for the best for you. Fibroids is a disease most common amongst black women and many gynaecologist in Europe and America do not see many of such cases with large fibroids except for places like South Africa where they have a large black population like ours. Before you go into theatre anywhere you sign a consent form, this permits the surgeon to increase the scope of the surgery. So a surgeon that does not do too many of these cases can tell you yes he will do a myomectomy but if he goes in and the situation is more than he can handle will do a hysterectomy instead. This is more likely with a doctor that has not done many and the doctors abroad are not used to seeing such large fibroids as doctors back home are and tend to resort to hysterectomy more readily.
You can also request your surgeon invites a second surgeon in for the case just be ready to pay.
My colleagues sister ended up with a hysterectomy in America for what would be regarded as medium sized fibroids back home, meanwhile my PA had a myomectomy in Abia state and the fibroids were so large that they had to use a bucket to carry them.
Good luck and my prayers are with you!

Sorry nora544, if i mention the word fasting, it does not mean spiritual praying. I am talking about a cure which people have experienced around me, and that is what was practiced when there were no ''doctors''. It didn't necessarily mean it most be 30 days dear. You have to know that human beings were program to stay without food for quite some time before their muscle can be destroy for energy. but for shorter periods the fats and strange growths/tumors are consumed for energy. Anyway excuse me for my suggestion.

I suggest the OP looks at these webpages:

''We recently had a guest at our fasting clinic who was startled to find that on day 7 of her water-only fast, she could no longer feel a uterine fibroid in her lower abdomen that she had been carrying around for years''.

http://drbenkim.com/articles-uterine-fibroids.html

http://www.collective-evolution.com/2014/06/22/scientists-discover-that-fasting-triggers-stem-cell-regeneration-fights-cancer/

Water fasting forces the body to burn fat for energy, but you need to monitor this carefully and with supervision, because it is a difficult type of fasting. Many health specialists, alternative or not, state that the benefits by doing this are extraordinary.

I know what you mean we call this Intermittent fasting, we have it in my country also, you eat one day and the next day you drink only water and tea and one or two cup black coffee, that is realy very good for the health and you can lose weight also with this. You should not eat for 24 hours. When you didnot eat the body first eat the cell who are not okay so peole who make this stay healthy and the cancer risk is lower.

I know what nigerians understand on fasting it is the same than the muslim make, I learn about this when Adeboye told his followers to fast for 100 days and I was asking me how a normal person can make this until I found it out, this fasting has no health efect and makes more harm to the body.

I know from what I speak because I lose weight with this and I make this together with a doctor from the University of medicine in Vienna and I can say it works realy realy very good but we learn also to eat healthy that is also very important.

Thank you Nora544 for clarifying. I forgot that here in Naija when people hear the word "'fast'', they misconceive it to mean the kind of fasting going on in churches today!(i will not advice people to undergo that kind). Even me i did the intermittent fasting also and the results were amazing on my overall health including my weight loss goals.

I have every week one day when I still make it, I didnot lose weight again but I keep it and that is okay and it is good for the body.
I have girlfriend she lose more than 90 pounds with this, in two years.

The fasting what is preached in Nigeria is not good for the body because it will slow down the metabolism and after the 100 days people will get more weight faster.

I know a woman she wrote on a wedding homepage our praying and fasting give us a good daughter in law but when I see her she looks like the first lady in nigeria and I was asking me what fasting did she make until I found it out.

Amazing for that your friend! I have been looking for ways to maintain my weight but you know ""fooooooddddd'' so as from today i am going back to my intermittent fast! I want a long term life style.

The religious kind of fast is a great danger in our society and we should not encourage people to undertake it.

Different length fasts accomplish different thingssadNote, we are not talking about church fasting here)

1- three day fast - aids in eliminating toxins and cleanses the blood
2- five day fast - begins "healing and rebuilding the immune system"
3- ten day fast - heads off problems in the making and helps to prevent illness, including degenerative diseases

http://www.allaboutfasting.com/how-long-should-you-fast.html

More stringent guidelines recommend you have supervision by a fasting professional whenever attempting a fast longer than 3-5 days.
