There is a category of customers known as ‘Potential Customers’; includes those who have yet to purchase but possess what the marketer believes are the requirements to eventually become Existing Customers. As the requirements to become a customer include such issues as having a need for a product, possessing the financial means to buy, and having the authority to make a buying decision. Locating Potential Customers is an ongoing process for two reasons.

First, Existing Customers may become Former Customers (e.g., decide to buy from a competitor) and, thus, must be replaced by new customers. Second, it is new customers that are needed in order for a business to significantly expand. For example, a company that sells only in its own country may see less room for sales growth if a high percentage of people in the country are already Existing Customers. In order to realize stronger growth the company may seek to sell their products in other countries where Potential Customers may be quite high.

The internet can also play a significant role of attracting customers. Getting customers to your business is not hard if you know how to get them. With the internet there are so many available businesses online they can take their time and choose the most respected business they feel comfortable with. What most business owners don’t understand is that the majority of potential customers coming online don’t trust the internet. So it is up to you to gain their trust and put their emotions at ease.

The internet is a highly advanced Marketing giant that covers the entire globe and can build your Business into an empire or cause you to have to go out of business. Understanding the simple strategies and techniques to doing business online is the beginning of the growth of your business and getting those potential customers who become long term clients of yours.
