Sunday, October 19, 2014 TOPIC>>HERE COMES THE DREAMER MEMORY VERSE In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, Job 33:15-16 READ Genesis 37:9-19 9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. 10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? 11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying. 12 And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem. 13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I. 14 And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem. 15 And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou? 16 And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks. 17 And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan. 18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. 19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh. MESSAGE Dreams are important. Psychoanalysts believe that dreams are an indication of the dreamer’s inner longings, desires and cravings, released from the deep sub-conscious during the state of sleep. Dreams can therefore be the manifestation of the inner yearnings of the dreamer’s heart let loose during sleep; they can also be spiritually induced. Dreams play a significant role in the life of human beings. Paul received direction on where to preach next through a dream in Acts 16:9: “And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.” Dreams are sometimes mysterious; such dreams convey revelations. To understand them, interpretation is required. Have you been having strange experiences in your dreams? My sincere prayer is that the Good Lord will grant you victory in your dreams and turn your God-sent dreams into reality in Jesus’ Name. Dreams can be classified by their features. One such classification includes: dreams as a message from God or the devil; dreams as a message concealed in mysteries; and dreams as a result of activity or thoughts. Sources of dreams are God, the devil and the flesh. God relates with man through dreams for specific reasons. These reasons can be any of these: to instruct him to carry out an action (Matthew 2:13) , to warn him of an impending danger (Matthew 2:22) , to teach him (Job 33:15-16) , to encourage him (Genesis 31:10-13) , to rebuke him (Genesis 31:24) , to correct him (Genesis 20:3-7) and to bless or make a covenant with him (Genesis 28:12-15) . The devil relates with man to cause fear and unbelief, to inflict man with sicknesses or death, to make diabolical covenants with him and to mislead him. Most dreams men have are from the flesh. A dream from the flesh simply means the revelation of the dreamer’s carnal longings and desires being let loose at the moment of sleep. Are you facing afflictions in your dreams? Please check your life. How pure are your thoughts? How will you rate your prayer life? All these go a long way in determining the type of dreams you have. Moreover, many people dream and can be described as mere dreamers, whereas those who succeed in life are men and women with a dream. However, while the dreamer talks much but does little, the person with a dream talks little but does much. Which are you: a mere dreamer or a person with a dream? Bible in one year: 2 Samuel 21-22 Proverbs 14:4-17 Action Point: Those who make it in life do something about their dreams. They attempt the impossible, thereby discovering what God can do. Do something about your dream today. Please as you click LIKE ,Remember also to use the SHARE button to reach out to your followers 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Monday, October 20„2014 TOPIC>>A CHRISTIAN YOUTH AT HOME MEMORY VERSE Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Ecclesiastes 12:1 READ Ephesians 6:1-3 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. MESSAGE A Christian family is a place for the formation of talents, aspirations and desires. It is a breeding ground of creativity and a place of safety and security. A Christian family is expected to be a place of bliss. It will only be so when the relationship between the parents and children (especially the grown- up children) is cordial. This is possible when children have chosen the path of obedience. Are you a Christian child, teenager or adult, still living with your parents or on your own? You have certain responsibilities to perform; which might not be required of unbelieving youths. For example, it is a scriptural command that you obey your parents. It is a dangerous thing for children to disobey their parents, except when their instructions contravene scriptural commandments. It is also mandatory that you love your parents. It is disastrous to neglect either of them or play one parent against the other. Family devotional time should be lively, and it is the duty of a grown-up child to actively participate in this. Be busy for God and engage in productive activities and hobbies that will make your parents happy. It is your responsibility to help your parents and siblings. Be observant to identify the needs of your parents; if it lies within your ability to meet the need, you must be willing to help them out. Contrary to what many may think, one of the most basic needs of parents is self- esteem. A Christian youth should be a model to others in love, kindness, productivity, holiness, godliness and obedience. Whenever you have to make serious and delicate decisions, don’t do it alone. Always seek for the advice of others, especially elderly and more experienced people. Seek for guidance so as not to falter. Be an example to others in prayer. Pray constantly for your family, love your home, have the interest of your family at heart and seek its welfare. Your good relationship should not be limited to members of your nuclear family alone. Seek to relate well with members of other families as well. Your relationship should be cordial. Demonstrate love to them and find occasion to help them. However, it is improper to divulge the secret of your family to outsiders. Do not criticise or condemn your family in front of members of other families. Furthermore, your relationship with God should be unquestionable. Love God and demonstrate that you love Him in speech and actions. To play your role successfully as a Christian youth, you must be committed to the Person of Jesus and to a pattern of living that befits His representative. You must also be committed to people and to God’s plan of showing Christ to the world. Bible in one year: 2 Samuel 23-24 Proverbs 14:18-31 Action Point: Be Christ-conscious as a Christian youth because without Him, you are nothing. Tuesday, October 21„2014 TOPIC>>WHO ARE YOU? MEMORY VERSE But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 1 Peter 2:9 READ Isaiah 6:1-8 1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. 6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. M£SSAGE Nothing destroys faster than ignorance. History confirms that ignorance has claimed many lives and destroyed more properties than any other factor. Half-hearted obedience is an act of ignorance. In today’s Bible reading, we learn of King Uzziah. Uzziah, king of Judah, was the son of Amaziah. His father did the right thing in the sight of God, but not with a perfect heart (2 Chronicles 25:1-2) . Uzziah followed the footsteps of his father, and he died a leper (2 Chronicles 26:1-5 , 21 ). Half-hearted obedience is worse than outright disobedience. Pride, self- exaltation, disobedience and presumption always lead to sacrilege and result in death. It is good to start well, but it is far more glorious to end well. Ecclesiastes 7:8 says: “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” Isaiah started his ministry as a preacher in king Uzziah’s court. However, it wasn’t until after King Uzziah’s death that he received a vision of the Lord’s glory. If you want to be victorious as a Christian, you should rely on God alone and know that the only throne which cannot be destroyed is the throne of the King of kings. As long as King Uzziah was alive, Isaiah saw nothing; but when King Uzziah died, he saw the glory of God and saw himself as dirty, wretched and despicable. He was broken. When you see the glory of the Lord, you will see yourself in your true state. Who are you? How does the Bible describe you? Are you patient in spirit or proud? Are you a Christian or an unbeliever? Christians are kings and priests (Revelation 1:6) . We are a chosen generation, chosen before the foundation of the world. We are a holy nation; a nation of lights. We are the light of the world. Are you showing forth the light of Christ to people living in your neighbourhood? We are also called to show forth the praises of God. We show forth His praises through strength. We are not a nation of weaklings, but a nation of the strong. Where do we derive our strength as Christians? Our strength is drawn from seven main sources. The first of these is joy (Nehemiah 8:10) . The second is the strength of the Lord (Ephesians 6:10) . The third is the Spirit of the Lord (Acts 1: . The fourth is the Name of Jesus (Philippians 2:9-10) . The fifth is the blood of Jesus (Revelations 12:11). The sixth is the word of God (Hebrews 4:12) , while the seventh is the mercy of God (2 Corinthians 4:1) . Bible in one year: 1 Kings 1:1-2:12 Proverbs 14:32-15:10 Key point: If you do not know who you are as a Christian, circumstances of life will take you for a ride. Wednesday, October 22,2014 TOPIC>>READY FOR THE GREAT HARVEST? MEMORY VERSE Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:19 READ Acts 13:38-39 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. MESSAGE Our God has so many wonderful attributes. Some of these attributes, such as omnipotence, omnipresence and being omniscient are unique to Him alone. There are other attributes which God as a wonderful Father, shares with His children. These include holiness, mercy and love. God is love. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” One of the ways God demonstrated His love to mankind was by making adequate provision for salvation (1 John 1:8-9) . As a child of God, you can demonstrate the love of God to the world through evangelism and missions. The term ‘evangelism’ denotes sharing good news from a loving God to a lost world. The Great Commission is binding on all Christians (Matthew 28:18-20) . The need to fulfil this mandate is ever so urgent, especially with the imminent return of our Lord. Every child of God is called to be a “reaper”. Are you ready for the great harvest? As a child of God, you are expected to rightly divide the word of truth. There is no geographical limitation or racial restrictions to fulfilling the Great Commission ( Mark 13:10 , Acts 1:8 ). To be actively involved in evangelism, it is required that you wisely utilise the different opportunities that present themselves to you in the course of your daily business, without appearing to be over-bearing. With the power of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of God, even a newly born-again Christian can win souls on a continuous basis. Soul winning is one of the reasons God retained you on earth, and you should be particular about it. As a Christian, you can do effective evangelism in the vehicle you board, at social gatherings, birthday celebrations and send-off parties. You can also engage in hospital visitations to pray for the sick, give them provisions, befriend them-especially if they feel lonely and poor, preach salvation through Jesus Christ to them and bring Bibles and good Christian literature for them to read. You can also be involved in prison visitation. You can visit prisoners, write letters to them, send them good reading materials and give them gifts with the permission of the authorities. Other ways in which you can be involved in evangelism include, placing illustrated gospel tracts on your table after eating in a restaurant, around school campuses, on bus-stop benches and in departmental stores as you buy or sell. Additionally, you can be involved in house-to-house evangelism. Are you ready? Bible in one year: 1 Kings 2:13-3:28 Proverbs 15:11-24 Action Point: Make evangelism a habit, because it is uppermost on God’s heart. Thursday, October 23,2014 TOPIC>>ANSWERING A MISSIONARY CALL MEMORY VERSE And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16:20 READ Acts 13:1-5 1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. 4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. 5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister. MESSAGE Missions can be defined as God specifically sending a person to reach the unreached for Him. The unreached are those people who have not heard the gospel sufficiently enough to be taken over for Christ. The sender is God, and the personality sent is the missionary. The unreached can be within the environment of the missionary or in faraway lands. A Call is imperative for missionary work. The missionary call is just like any other call to Christian service. Many people have shipwrecked their lives because they were not sure of God’s call upon their life. If you are sure of God’s call upon your life, you will not be tossed to and fro by all shades of doctrine. Being called to be a missionary is by God’s grace; it doesn’t follow a stereotyped style. Factors underlying God’s call include acknowledging and receiving a claim of ownership by Christ. You must acknowledge divine ownership upon your life and develop an understanding of God’s will and have the willingness to do it. You should also develop sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s voice by having an open mind, an attentive ear and a pure heart. In addition, you should be active in God’s service. A missionary call does not necessarily come through a special revelation. The call can come through a casual remark by a friend or neighbour about the heathen. It can be through a hymn, an anointed message, counselling from an anointed leader or through divinely orchestrated circumstances. Are you prepared to answer the missionary call? A missionary should be physically fit to withstand adverse situations such as mosquitoes, bad climates, diseases, poor public sanitation and poor medical services. Also, a prospective missionary should at least be at the level of his or her audience. In other words, a missionary must be adequately educated to reach the highest of all the educated folks in the mission field and should be able to meet and discuss with other missionaries at their level. To excel as a missionary, you need a charming personality that is emotionally stable. You should also be able to adapt to the culture and food of other people. There is equally the need for you to be patient and persevering. A missionary should be versatile. He or she should also be submissive to God, the mission board, and to his or her superior officers. Finally, whoever wishes to be a missionary should have a thorough experience of salvation, sanctification and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 4-6 Proverbs 15:25-16:5 Action Point: For success on the field, every missionary should ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and ask for these gifts now. Friday, October 24, 2014 TOPIC>>TURNING WEAKNESSES INTO BLESSINGS And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? Matthew 21:16 READ Exodus 4:10-12 10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. 11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. MESSAGE Our God is a God of miracles. He moves in mysterious ways and He still calls people to His side today. Many people have the call of God on their life but do not know. Some people believe they are too weak to be used of God, while some others, who are already in a position of service, are facing frustration or even failure. God is not the author of confusion. He calls His own into blessings and glory. There are times in the service of God when we have to move, and there are other times when we have to wait patiently for His move. Proverbs 3:5 says: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Are you weak and confused? Trust in the Lord. God has not forgotten the weak. When God calls a person to His service, He doesn’t choose Him on the basis of how clever, talented or educated he is (1 Corinthians 1:26) . God had to strip Paul of all his pride vis-à-vis his qualifications, status and achievements before sending him to the ignorant and outcast people called Gentiles (Philippians 3: . Paradoxically, God used ignorant and unlearned Peter in proclaiming the Good News to the elite Jews of the Roman empire (Acts 2:5&14) . The good news about weaknesses is that, the Holy Spirit is available to qualify for God’s service, the weak who puts his or her trust in the Lord. To turn weakness to strength, you should be meek and humble. This does not imply that you should give in to a sense of inferiority complex, self-pity, self-hatred or self-consciousness (2 Corinthians 12:10) . Weaknesses and inadequacies can become blessings if they press us to depend on Christ (2 Corinthians 12:9) . Another step to turning your weaknesses to strength is to exchange your strength for His strength. To do this, you must acknowledge your weaknesses, limitations and great need for God. You must also present yourself as a living sacrifice to Him (Romans 12:1) . Learn to wait on God (Isaiah 40:31) . Patiently wait for His time. Ensure that you do not take any major decisions or major actions until He shows you that it is time to act (Luke 24:49) . Don’t get ahead of God, neither should you lag behind Him. Wait patiently on Him in prayer and fasting (Psalm 69:6) . Spend quality time each day to read the Bible and to pray. Finally, you should develop a strong devotional habit and expect opposition and trials. You should know that when you try to go deeper and higher with God, the world, your human nature and demonic principalities will oppose you. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 7:1-8:21 Proverbs 16:6-19 Key point: When you wait patiently on the Lord, He purges the dross of sin and flesh away from you and His power begins to work in you and through you, with supernatural results. Saturday, October 25,2014 TOPIC>>CLOSING THE DOOR AGAINST EVIL MEMORY VERSE Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19 READ Isaiah 49:25-26 25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. 26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob. MESSAGE The world is full of evil. Just listen to the news today and you will hear all manner of stories of horrors such as armed-robbery, looting, kidnapping, betrayal, persecution, terrorism, ritual killing, cannibalism and a host of others. There is hardly a nation on earth where heinous crimes are not committed on a daily basis. Evil is manifested in different shades and colours. Some are violent, crude and horrific while others are subtle, mild and deceptive. They may be emotional or psychological; physical or spiritual. Evil is perpetrated at domestic, community, local and international levels. The situation is perplexing. Peace is a scarce commodity nowadays. Many people live in fear, torment, horror and anxiety. However, for a heaven-bound Christian, the story is not one of hopelessness. We have reason to rejoice because there is light at the end of the tunnel, Colossians 2:15 says: “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ paid the supreme price for our peace. His death, resurrection, and ascension to heaven were all geared towards our peace. Through His death and resurrection, he obtained permanent victory over the devil and his cohorts. The author of all evil is the devil. He is assisted by principalities and powers. Since Christ has destroyed the devil (Hebrews 12:14) , and has triumphed over principalities and powers, the easiest way for a person to close the door against evil is by surrendering his or her life to Jesus. Be born-again. Jesus is more than enough to take care of your fears and anxieties. You can also close the door against evil when you abstain from all appearances of evil. Evil has the tendency to boomerang. Those who do evil, end up attracting evil to themselves. To close the door against evil therefore, do good to others. Be good and kind to members of your family, relatives, friends and acquaintances. Be kind, even to those who persecute you and perpetrate evil against you. There is a user of this devotional, who has been betrayed severally by friends and loved ones. You can close the door to all the evil in your life by forgiving all your offenders and being nice to them. Many people are living under a curse. The good news is that the anointing destroys curses. You can also close the door against evil through aggressive prayers. Pray aggressively against witchcraft attack and destiny destroyers. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 8:22-9:28 Proverbs 16:20-33 Action Point: Close the door against evil by putting on the whole armour of God and confronting evil headlong. Begin today. Sunday, October 26, 2014 TOIPC>>SUCCESS BY THE SUPERNATURAL MEMORY VERSE But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day Proverbs 4:18 READ Isaiah 1:18-19 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: MESSAGE How do you live great and die great? How does a person experience good success in perpetuity? It is by drawing upon the supernatural for success. How does a man do this? The first thing to do is to know God, the Author of success. The first step to knowing God is to know who you are as a human being. The scriptures confirm that man is the epitome of God’s creation (Genesis 1:27) . Man is a great being because He was made in the image of God. You should however know that all men have sinned, and the wages of sin is death. In the area of sin, man is helpless because he cannot save himself. Only Jesus, who is God that came in the form of man, can save man from sin. Man can only experience smooth fellowship with God when he is delivered from sin. The second step to knowing God is to confess your weaknesses, short- comings, failures and misdemeanours to God. After this, repent whole-heartedly and accept God’s salvation. It is not enough to know God. Whoever will draw upon the supernatural for good success should love God. Loving God is crucial in your bid to experience good success. You should love God because He first loved you. In addition to loving God, you should endeavour to please Him. When a man’s way pleases God, the Almighty will cause even his enemies to be at peace with Him. You should also fellowship with God. One of the main reasons for the creation of man was God’s desire for fellowship. You enjoy fellowship with God when you enter His gates with sincere thanksgiving as His child. Recognise the Name of Jesus and call on Him. You should pay your vows, which includes dealing thoroughly with sins. To remain in fellowship with God, you should never usurp His glory. Speak constantly to the Father in the Spirit and glorify Jesus through the Spirit. Proper fellowship produces great results, such as divine provision, divine protection, divine prosperity and divine promotion. Added to fellowship is asking. Whoever will draw upon the supernatural for good success should learn to ask God for success through prayers and fasting. Thanksgiving is also crucial to this experience. As a Christian who wishes to experience good success always, you should give thanks always. Let your thanksgiving outnumber your requests. Thank God for who He is, what He has done, who you are, what you have and for what you will have. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 10-11 Proverbs 17:1-14 Action Point: Thanksgiving is crucial to drawing upon the supernatural for good success. Spend quality time in thanksgiving to God today. Monday, October 27,2014 TOPIC>>LIVING BY FAITH MEMORY VERSE Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Hebrews 10:38 READ Mark 11:22-23 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. MESSAGE Faith is part of the nature of God. God lives by faith, and every child of God is expected to live as God lives. Are you a child of God? You are expected to live by faith. You are expected to live to please God and Him alone. Hebrews 11:6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Faith can be defined as trust, strong belief and unquestioning confidence. Faith means belief in God. It is the belief that God can do what he says He can do. Faith is belief in God’s word. You need to have faith in God! Generally, there are two kinds of faith: These are: physical or natural (human) faith, and spiritual or supernatural faith. All human beings have some measure of faith. You need faith for salvation, sanctification, justification, wholeness or health of the spirit, soul and body. You need faith to live the Christian life, to walk the Christian walk, to remove the obstacles blocking your way to heaven, to live holy, to live above the world and to enter into the rest of God. However, it should be noted that faith standing alone is not sufficient. Certain things need to be added to it (2 Peter 1:5-10) . It is risky for a ministry to be built on faith alone because it could die as a result. This is because, as the faith on which such a ministry is founded begins to die, the ministry itself will also begin to die. Do you want to live by faith? First, have the faith of the Son of God (Galatians 2:20) . Then add virtue or good behaviour to your faith. Ensure that you live holy and righteously. To virtue, add knowledge. Don’t allow ignorance to destroy you. To knowledge, add temperance and to temperance, add patience. To patience, add godliness. To godliness, add brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness, add love. Secondly, let everything added to your faith abound in you. Be diligent in making them flourish in you. It is dangerous to live by faith alone. If you fail to add virtue and other qualities to your faith, you might end up becoming barren, unfruitful, blind and short-sighted. For you to live by faith therefore, you should first and foremost be born-again, and diligently develop your faith to reach the measure of that of the Son of God. Pray constantly in the Holy Ghost and live in perpetual obedience to the will of God. Hate sin and shun bad company, ungodly habits, pride and false doctrine. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 12-13 Proverbs 17:15-28 Action Point: No life is more fulfilling than living by faith. Begin to live by the faith of the Son of God today. Tuesday, October 28,2014 TOPIC>>DEBORAH, THE PATRIOTIC WOMAN MEMORY VERSE Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10 READ Judges 4:4-9 4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. 5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? 7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand. 8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go. 9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh. MESSAGE Deborah was a patriotic woman. She was a prophetess, who used the anointing of God on her life to judge and instruct Israel in the way of righteousness. Are you a virtuous woman? In what way is your life affecting your community? The name Deborah means ‘bee’. She lived up to her name by her industry, sagacity and great usefulness to the society, her sweetness to her friends and her sharpness against her enemies. How far does your name influence you? What influence does the name of Christ have upon you? Have you been able to influence others to Christ? Deborah was said to be the wife of Lapidoth. ‘Lapidoth’ means ‘lamp’. As one associated with light, Deborah was a blessing to her community. Are you a blessing or a curse to your family, friends, acquaintances, neighbours, community, state or nation? Deborah was intimately acquainted with God. She was a judge and a prophetess. How close are you to the Almighty? From the life of Deborah, we learn that God depends on man to carry out His rescue operations and programmes. However, no man should see himself as indispensable. God can use anyone. Any man or woman who purges himself or herself can be used as a vessel unto honour by the Master. 2 Timothy 2:21 says: “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.” Don’t be too big for God. He has alternatives. As a prophetess and a judge, Deborah’s head was perpetually greased by the oil of anointing. To excel in God’s service, you need the anointing. It is the anointing that destroys the yoke. Deborah was picked from among the rebellious multitude in Israel. God still has His own vessels. He uses whoever yields himself or herself to Him. Deborah did not allow her gender and other issues of time and life to block her focus or stifle her consecration. She was entirely devoted to the service of God in Israel. There is no person without challenges. However, God expects diligence and total consecration in whatever is committed to your hands. Deborah was a good leader. She gave her followers the assurance of victory and did not fail. She raised their hope, and she delivered. Are you a morale-booster or a discourager? She helped the faith of her subordinates to grow strong. She was also submissive to her husband. How submissive are you? Bible in one year: 1 Kings 14:1-15:32 Proverbs 18:1-14 Key point: God is no respecter of persons. What He needs from you is holy living. Live a life of holiness and you will be used of God. Wednesday, October 29,2014 TOPIC>>THE EAGLE AMBASSADORS MEMORY VERSE But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 READ Isaiah 40:28-31 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. MESSAGE God has favourites. Certain animals are viewed as God’s favourites because of the way they were used in describing His character in the Bible. For example, the lion: our Lord is described as the Lion of the tribe of Judah in Revelation 5:5 . Another is the eagle: God in Exodus 19:4 , used the eagle to describe His character of protecting His own. There is much to learn from the eagle. Because the eagle is the king of birds, it has many characteristics that distinguish it from other ordinary birds. A study of some of these characteristics will enable us know how we ought to comport ourselves, manifest what we have been created to be, do what we have been called to do, and have what Jesus Christ died to give us. We need to learn about the eagle because all children of God are expected to be ambassadors with royal traits like that of the eagle. Our royalty is described in 1 Peter 2:9, which says: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” A thorough study of the eagle reveals that eagles flock together and fly alone. As the saying goes, “birds of the same feather flock together”. We as heaven-bound Christians must associate with our kind (Psalm 1:1-3) . We must keep company with genuine believers (Hebrews 10:25) . We must also tarry in the presence of God in worship, praise and through all manner of prayers (Luke 6:12) . The eagle flies alone. Be separate, as commanded in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 . You cannot afford to do things the way unbelievers or careless Christians do them. The eagle has a long range vision. An eagle is capable of seeing from afar, both its prey and its enemies (like the serpent, trying to sneak into its nest to steal eggs or kill its young ones). This strong vision of the eagle keeps the enemy away. We as eagle ambassadors must be vigilant and not allow the enemy to sneak into our lives. We must get rid of the little foxes that spoil our vine – the little foxes of unbelief, sorrow, depression and all such things. We must practice peace, joy and righteousness. We must not allow the enemy to infiltrate our homes, finances, relationships, health and spiritual well-being (1 Peter 5: . We must steadily resist the devil at all times (James 4:7) . Additionally, an eagle tests before trusting. A female eagle chooses her mate with care. Christian leaders have a lot to learn here. We must be prayerful and exercise great care in choosing our partners and subordinates. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 15:33-17:24 Proverbs 18:15-19:4 Key point: Eagles are peculiar birds. A heaven-bound Christian is God’s favourite and should be unique. Please as you click LIKE ,Remember also to use the SHARE button to reach out to your followers |

Thursday, October 30,2014 TOPIC>>THE REDEMPTIVE NAMES OF GOD MEMORY VERSE And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21 READ Exodus 6:2-8 2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: 3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. 4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. 5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: 7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD. MESSAGE Our God is the only one that has the ability to save to the uttermost. He has many redemptive names which include: Jehovah El-Shaddai, Jehovah Rophekah, Jehovah Nissi, Jehovah Jireh, Jehovah Shalom and Jehovah Rohi. The name Jehovah El-Shaddai, reveals God as the Almighty; the all in all (Acts 17:28) . God is more than enough to nourish you, strengthen you and to supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19) . The name Jehovah Ropheka means the Lord our Healer. Christ is still in the business of healing His people today, because there is nothing like the age of miracles, rather we have the God of miracles. Are you in need of healing? Call on Jehovah Ropheka and you will be healed. Another redemptive name of God is Jehovah Nissi. This simply means the Lord our Victor. Our God is the One who can give us all- round success and victory over all circumstances. To really overcome the world, the devil, sin and self, you must be born-again. It is when you are genuinely born-again that God will be in position to fight your battles for you. God is also the Jehovah Jireh. This redemptive name means the Lord will give or provide. God can still provide for all your needs today as He did in time past. All that He requires from you is faith. The Lord is also our Sanctifier – Jehovah Mekaddishkem. In these days of spiritual decadence and social degeneration, the need for believers to be sanctified cannot be over-emphasised. God is also Jehovah Shalom. He is the Lord our Peace. Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, and it is only those who have surrendered their all to God that can experience peace indeed. Are you born-again? Are you living in peace or tumult? Examine your life today. The last but not the least redemptive name is Jehovah Rohi. This name means the Lord my Shepherd (Psalm 23:1) . To yield your life to God as your Shepherd, you will need to accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. He will then become your Shepherd and you will be His sheep. God knows His sheep, and His sheep know Him (John 10:14) . If you regard Jesus as your Shepherd, you will stop doing things without His express permission. It is then that you can enjoy the benefits due to a sheep (Psalm 23:1-6) . The Good Shepherd will ensure that there is no want in your life. He will protect you and guarantee your safety. He will bless you abundantly and you will obtain favour of God and men. Are you born-again? If your answer is “no”, then you must become born-again, because God will not be your shepherd, heal you, give you peace of mind, provide for all your needs, give you victory over all your enemies, nor guarantee your safety until you are born- again. Friday, October 31, 2014 TOPIC>>DIVINE PROMOTION FOR THE WISE MEMORY VERSE The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. Proverbs 3:35 READ Psalm 75:5-7 5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. MESSAGE Divine promotion is a reward for those who live holy. God is the Judge, and only He can promote you. The devil is not the one who will promote you. There are two types of promotion according to Proverbs 3:35 . These are: glory and shame. There is glorious promotion for the wise and shameful promotion for fools. Who are the wise? The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 1:7) . Those who are wise fear God, and because of this, they live a holy life. They depart from sin. God says that such people will have a glorious promotion. A classical example of a wise man, who as a result of his fear of God abstained from sin, is Joseph in Egypt. He refused to have carnal knowledge of his master’s wife, though it was offered to him ‘free of charge’. In Genesis 39:9, He queried this offer saying: “……There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” The end of the story is that Joseph became the Prime Minister of Egypt. Who are fools? Fools are those who can see danger ahead and still walk into it. Fools are those who know that the wages of sin is death and yet continue to sin. Fools are those who know that the only way to get to the kingdom of God is by becoming born-again and yet they refuse salvation. Fools are those who have decided to continue living in sin, after knowing that without holiness, no man shall see God. You must live a holy life if you want glorious promotion. God is no respecter of persons. He will never bend His standards. Promotion puts you on top. Being on top comes with very many advantages, according to Deuteronomy 28:1: “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:” God will give you divine promotion if you live holy. However, if you do not live holy, you will go down. Those who are on top enjoy it up there. Those who are below remain in suffering. I prefer being on top. When you are on top, you will get special protection. The one who is on top is special and of more value than the one who is below. Can you see how wise it is to live holy? I pray that today, the Lord will give you the grace you need to live holy for divine promotion, in Jesus’ Name. All you need to do is to make up your mind that you will no longer live a life of sin anymore, and the Lord will help your decision. Bible in one year: 1 Kings 19:19-21:16 Proverbs 19:19-20:3 Prayer Point: Father, put your fear in me so that I may shun evil for holy living, and grant me divine promotion this season in Jesus’ Name. Saturday,November 1st 2014 TOPIC>>HOW HIGH IS YOUR VOLTAGE? MEMORY VERSE Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.„ 2 nd Corinthians 2:14 Read: 2 nd Corinthians 2:14-17 14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. 15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? 17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. MESSAGE The level of decadence in the world in these last days is on the increase, just as predicted in the Bible (Matthew 24:12). There is widespread acceptance of degenerate behaviours just like the Bible said it would be (2 nd Timothy 3:1-. Believers that are still here on earth, seeing and hearing all these evil on a daily basis, no doubt have a responsibility of ensuring that they operate at a very high spiritual voltage level. A believer at a low spiritual voltage level, risks being overwhelmed by the moral and spiritual current of the world, with the potential of being swallowed up by same. Whereas, the expectation of the Lord is that our high voltage of righteousness would flow and overwhelm the decadence of obscene acts, requires that a child of God be spiritually hot at all times. Note that continuous exposure of the same stimulus tends to gradually be steadily gain strength in eliciting a response, which eventually might lead to participation. There is therefore the need for a child of God to always put precautionary measure in place. The current situation demands that you as a child of God must be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10-13). You must therefore ensure that you wholly apply yourself to the necessary spiritual discipline of prayers (Romans 12:12) and study of the word (James 1:21). You will also have to apply self-discipline in what you look at – you will do yourself a lot of good if you don’t fix your eyes on those seductively dressed daughters of Jezebel (Job 31:1). Self- discipline also has to be applied in the area of what you watch – what kind of programmes you watch on TV, how long you sit down watching the TV, what kind of places you go to when resorting/holidaying and what kind of friendship you keep (1 st Corinthians 15:33). Besides these, you should fellowship regularly with fellow believers. Do not keep away form this for too long. Be involved in your local church assembly. Remember the popular saying that says: it is the idle hands Satan engages? Make sure you particularly engage in soul winning. It will also serve you well to boldly and readily express your identity as a child of God in any new environment you find yourself. Sunday November 2, 2014 TOPIC>>BLESSED HOPE MEMORY VERSE Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Titus 2:13 READ Titus 2:11-14 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. MESSAGE What is our hope as Christians, and why have we chosen to turn our backs on the world and its pleasures? It is the hope of glory, honour, immortality and an eternity spent in the bosom of our Lord ( Romans 2:7 ). This mother of all hopes shall be made manifest at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Normally, a person hopes for something good and pleasant. However, for the children of God, there is no hope that compares with the return of Jesus to Earth. It is on account of this hope of Jesus returning for His people, that Apostle Paul confidently declared in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 that: “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” Jesus is the grace of God that brings salvation by the gospel. The return of Jesus puts an end to all pain, all suffering, all disappointment, poverty, failures, battles, conflicts, sorrows and defeats. For those in Him, who eagerly look forward to His coming, I write this to you: His imminent return is very much around the corner, based on the signs of His return as given to us in the Bible. Note that today’s scripture passage provides certain dos and don’ts for those who have the blessed hope of the return of Jesus. Titus 2:12 says that the Grace of God – Jesus, is teaching us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly lust. Beloved, we are in an age where ungodliness and worldly lusts are becoming the norm; an age where people perpetuate evil without qualms and where mild terms are coined for sin e.g. having an affair when talking of adultery. In spite of this, the Grace of God teaches us that we should live soberly, righteously and godly. To be sober is to be responsible and serious. It means to comport oneself with dignity. To live righteously and godly is to live according to the word of God and to live by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Besides, Titus 2:14 says we are to be zealous of good works – works of kindness, evangelism, visitation, follow-up, encouraging those needing comfort, interceding for others etc. We are not just to do these works, but we are to do them with zeal. Now the question is: are you giving attention to the teaching of the Grace of God? May the blessed hope be for you a blessed hope indeed when the Lord appears in Jesus’ Name. Bible in a Year: 2 Kings 1-2 Key Point: He that has this hope purifies himself even as he is pure. Please as you click LIKE ,Remember also to use the SHARE button to reach out to your followers |

Monday 3 November 2014 TOPIC>>THE WORD MEMORY VERSE For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 READ Isaiah 40:6-8 6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field: 7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. MESSAGE The word of God is God communicating with us and the word of God is God revealed to us. In it we see His nature and His character. The word of God is forever settled in heaven. The word of God is a living spirit (John 6:63). The word of God reveals the mind of God and therefore His will to us. What can man do without the word of God? Nothing! It is the word of God that gives us the means of salvation from sin. It confronts us with the reality of our fallen state, the doom of sinners and the way out through the love and mercy of God. It is the same word that serves as our compass on our journey to Heaven (Acts 20:32).The word of God also reveals God’s provision for our successful and victorious living here on earth, and how to harness His promises in our lives. What would we do without the word of God? Any congregation of God’s people that give prominence to the word of God, teaching and preaching it, and patterning their lives according to it will be blessed. But those that do otherwise are treading on very dangerous grounds. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:7-8 The word of God will outlast anyone. Though heaven and earth shall pass away, the word of God shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). What should your attitude towards the word of God be? The word itself reveals this: “Tremble at God’s word” (Isaiah 66:2). This directs God’s attention to you for favour and victory (Isaiah 66:5). You are to uphold the word of God in your life irrespective of circumstances. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego upheld the word of God even at the point of death, and God did not disappoint them. You are to feed your mind the word of God. This will renew your mind to think the way God thinks and will restrain you from sin (Psalm 119:11). The word of God coming out prophetically from the mouth of God’s anointed servants is as powerful as the written word. The story of the official in Samaria, who derided the word of God from the mouth of Elisha attests to this. He paid for it with his life (2 Kings 7:18-20). I encourage you to tremble indeed at God’s word; study it, meditate on it, obey it and you will prosper (James 1:25) BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : 2 KINGS 3:1-4:37 and PROVERBS 21:1-15 Action Point: Prayerfully improve on your reading, studying, meditating and memorising of God’s word. Tuesday, November 4,2014 TOPIC>>NOT AN ESAU MEMORY VERSE Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. Hebrews 12:16 READ Genesis 25:29-34 29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: 30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. 31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. MESSAGE The Bible in Matthew 7:6 warns us not to give our precious things to those who will not value them. “Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” In this scripture, our God expresses His displeasure at the lack of respect for valuable things, and on how such attitude results in the abuse and mismanagement of such things. God’s displeasure is not only at the attitude, but also for persons exhibiting such attitude. God, who knows all things before they happen, must have seen this evil trait in the man Esau before he was born; hence the rejection of Esau and His preference for Jacob (Roman 9:13) . The proof of Esau’s character of carelessness and lack of regard for his heritage can clearly be seen in the attitude he displayed when he came back from the field hungry. He requested to be fed from the pottage of his twin brother Jacob, who in return, asked him to trade in his heavenly apportioned birthright and he agreed. You see, the Bible has a reason for every word it uses in its accounts of events, Genesis 25:30 says: “And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.” There is an element of the lust of the eye displayed by Esau here. The redness of the boiling pottage attracted him, coupled with his hunger. But what are these compared to his birthright. Even his state of being “hungry to the point of death” is not sufficient to justify him exchanging his treasure for food. Within the entire household, there would have been some fast food somewhere, but the red pottage caught his eyes and heart. How on earth did Jacob conjure this request he made of his brother, Esau. I believe Jacob already knew that important things never mattered to his brother and this was why he had the guts to throw that kind of request at him. True to his assessment, Esau proved to be his real self – careless, negligent and therefore worthless. Brethren, if you are noticed to be a carefree, careless fellow, those who would take advantage of you would try you out. Some sisters will still be smiling when male co- workers go beyond their boundary by touching them carelessly. Why then would such men not think in their hearts that you wouldn’t mind being asked to bed? Believe me, they would assiduously work towards it. Bible in one year 2 Kings 4:38-6:23 Proverbs 21:16-29 Action Point: Be careful, don’t be an Esau. It was too late for Esau, when he realised his error. Wednesday, November 5,2014 TOPIC>>WORSHIPPING BLINDLY Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22 READ Exodus 32:2-4 2 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. 3 And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. MESSAGE The void created in man, following the departure of God’s glory from him as a result of the great fall in the Garden of Eden (Romans 3:23) , yearns to be filled up. Unfortunately, the archenemy of man – Satan, has blinded the eyes of many to the light of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the only means by which this void can be filled (2 Corinthians 4:4) . Jesus is the only way back to God. John 14:16 says, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” When people appear religious without real encounter with the gospel of Jesus, or refuse to open the door of their hearts to Jesus, though they are full of activities in the house of God, they are merely worshipping blindly. In the words of today’s memory verse, they are worshipping what they know not of. Some are high up there in leadership positions, but they are like Aaron, they are acquainted with all the spiritual terminologies of the Christian life, but do not know God. Aaron was next to Moses in leadership over Israel, but the man Aaron could not be said to really know who God is. If he did, when the people were clamouring for a god because of the long absence of Moses, he would have known that God cannot be found in objects. It is only in Jesus that God can truly be seen and known; any other way is an exercise in blindness or groping in darkness. Jesus is the brightness of God’s glory, and the express image of His person (Hebrews 1:3) . It thus follows that to truly and genuinely become a child of God, and a true worshipper of God; you must have Jesus alone to the exclusion of any other spiritual object of worship. For those who refuse to surrender their hearts to Jesus, but who say they are of God because they are following the moral teachings of Jesus Christ, it is useless for you to cherish His moral teachings without first accepting His death for you and acknowledging your state of death in sin. You must repent from sin and call upon God for your salvation. You must also accept His Lordship over your life. Refusal to do this and mere adherence to His moral teachings leads you nowhere because your state of sin still remains and no sinner will make heaven. Let it be known to you that everyone that would not accept Jesus is being proud against God. Such an individual is saying that his own efforts can save him. By deeds of the law no man is justified, only by the grace of Jesus (Romans 3:20) . Bible in one year: 2 Kings 6:24-8:24 Proverbs 21:30-22:12 Key point: Jesus, and Him alone is the way, the truth and the life, there is no any other. Thursday, November 6,2014 TOPIC>>GOD'S OWNERSHIP OF ALL 1 MEMORY VERSE The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Psalm 24:1 READ 1 Chronicles 29:10-16 10 Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. 11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. 14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. 15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. 16 O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own. MESSAGE Only God is self-existing. He is the only One whose ground of existence consists in Himself i.e. His existence is self-determined. The existence of every other being or thing is determined by external entities and not by themselves. That external entity is God (Acts 17:28) . God’s existence is not determined by anyone, but He determines the existence of all that have ever existed, all that now exist and all that will ever exist, be it spirit, human, physical, or non- physical elements- all and everything. Our God is truly awesome! It therefore follows that, He is the One that owns everyone and everything everywhere (Psalm 24:1) . Also, the implication of this is that: nobody else really owns anything by himself because both an individual and the abilities he exhibits – the talents, physical prowess, intelligence and ability to acquire possessions, all belong to God (Daniel 2:20-22 , Deuteronomy 8:18 ). This implies that man is just a steward of his own life and anything he may claim to own. He is accountable to God on the way he lives and on what he uses his possessions for (Revelation 20:12) . Wisdom therefore teaches us that we should not hold tenaciously to any possession which God desires from us. This is what David meant in his statements after leading the people of Israel in making preparation for the building of the temple of God by giving. After he and the people had given of their possessions very bountifully, he expressed with humility his acknowledgement of the fact that both they and all that they contributed actually came from God; God owns them all. If you labour and God refuses to bless your effort, what would you do? This is where our attitude must also change; especially those who when giving a testimony would say, because I fasted many days and prayed very well, so what I desired happened, as if it was just their efforts in prayers that got it done. No! If you pray and God does not answer, what would happen? Our testimony should not direct the attention and glory of the accomplishment to us, but to God. When you therefore realise that it is God that owns you and gave you the ability to perform all that you do, and that the results you get also belong to Him, you would not find it difficult to give Him whatever He desires of you. When you do so, you will continue to flourish even in generations after you because God would establish a personal covenant with you. Friday, November 7,2014 TOPIC>>GOD’S OWNERSHIP OF ALL II Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? Romans 2:4 READ Isaiah 40:13-18 13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and showed to him the way of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. 16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. 17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. 18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him? MESSAGE If only men would think deeply, then they will be better able to put things in their proper perspective. It is baffling the way we mere mortals behave at times due to lack of depth of thought; this includes even the children of God. Sometimes we behave as though we were the one who created ourselves or as if the abilities we possess and exhibit are self-given. We sometimes boast of things to the extent that but for the mercy of God, if He were to prove us wrong, a devastating and regrettable experience would ensue. Some people boast of the prowess of some parts of their body and even lay claim to the ownership of the same. God created you with the features of your body and they are meant to be used correctly to His glory. Psalm 12:3-4 says, “The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?” What if God had made you dumb or deaf? God is the owner of everyone and everything. It is foolish of anyone to think and act as if he owns himself and therefore can dictate to himself what he will do and what the outcome of such actions will be. God Himself tried to consider the value of man relative to His own worth in Isaiah 40:15-17 . He started by saying even the nations are like a drop of water in a bucket, and then He said they were like small dust on a balance scale. All these yardsticks seemed too much for man’s value, hence in verse 17, He said all nations before Him are as nothing, and in fact they are counted to Him less than nothing. Does this not make you to shiver? What then is your pride? It is a great honour and privilege for God to be so mindful of man to the extent of Him sacrificing His utmost for man’s salvation. If you are wise, you will just continue to cherish and treasure this privilege as a child of God and keep enjoying His goodness by giving Him the prime place in your decisions, choices, thoughts, actions and attitude. You will always be grateful to Him for everything, even in what may seem like a little and insignificant providence you enjoy. Many of God’s children take things for granted too much. In every aspect of our lives, we must acknowledge and give thanks to Him always. Every moment of our continued existence is only by His mercy. Every accomplishment is by His grace Bible in one year: 2 Kings 10:18-12:21 Proverbs 22:29-23:13 Action Point: Praise God for His awesomeness in your life Please as you click LIKE ,Remember also to use the SHARE button to reach out to your followers |

Saturday, November 8,2014 TOPIC>>ARISE NOW! And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Hebrews 12:13 R£AD Isaiah 60:1-3 1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. MESSAGE When God speaks, it can be in various forms: it can be an advice, an invitation, an encouragement, a warning, a declaration or a command. The word “Arise” in the divine statement of today’s Bible reading is purely a command. Just like in Genesis 1:3 , where God commanded light to appear in the midst of prevailing darkness, “Arise”, is a command from the Commander-in-Chief Himself to you today. Your spiritual position or posture, prior to receiving this command to arise, will determine the type of response expected of you. Hence, to an already dead fellow, arise means come back to life. If your spiritual case can be said to be a dead situation, this day, you will come back to life in Jesus’ Name. To the one who is asleep, arise means wake up. If you have been spiritually asleep, by God’s mercy you are being awoken from your slumber in Jesus’ Name. To the one who is sitting down, arise means to stand up. To be sitting is better spiritually than to be asleep, yet this is far from what God expects. If you have been spiritually sitting or you are spiritually a lame person (Hebrews 12:13) , your spiritual feet receive strength now and I command you to be upstanding in Jesus’ Name. To the fellow standing, arise implies that he should jump into action, this was the situation of Samuel in the house of Jesse (1 Samuel 16:12-13) . If however you are already walking, arise to you means that you should begin to run. David was already in action against Goliath, but a time came when he stepped up his action by running towards Goliath before releasing the stone from his sling (1 Samuel 17:48) . This implies you need to add speed to your action. Suppose you are running already, arise to you means that you should begin to fly. Possibly, you are already in the air flying, then arise to you implies that you should begin to soar (2 Corinthians 3:18) . All these changes in position are possibilities with God, not just by your own strength. Once you are willing and you trust in Him, you will experience your desired change. However, you have to recognise your current state. A dead fellow feels nothing, for such people, no matter what they hear they are not touched, they don’t feel it. Unfortunately, there are even some ministers of God like that; they are impervious to the voice of God. “Arise now” may be the last chance for such to come alive. Whatever your state may be, a change for the better is possible, and it is coming your way this season in Jesus’ Name. Bible in one year: 2 Kings 13:1-15:16 Proverbs 23:14-28 Action Point: Sincerely assess your spiritual position and pray accordingly. Sunday, November 9,2014 TOPIC>>SHINE THE LIGHT Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 READ Matthew 5:14-16 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. MESSAGE Just as “Arise” from yesterday’s Bible reading is a command, “Shine” in today’s message is also a command. The command to shine is a call to you to show the light inside you. This implies that you should show forth your good works and show the world that you belong to God. Action they say speaks louder than voice. Jesus Himself said by their fruits ye shall know them (Matthew 7:20) . It can also mean to roll back or resist darkness. In the natural world, when light shines where there has been darkness, the darkness recedes. Therefore you as a child of God are to kick out the devil; kick him out of your family, out of your workplace and out of your community (Mark 16:17) . Sicknesses, failure, demonic oppression, bondage and sorrow are all manifestations of darkness. It is your duty to kick them out. The command to “shine” could also mean, “Show your potential”. We as children of God are destined for greatness (Ephesians 1:18-23) . It also means that you should use your talents (Matthew 25:14-30) . We all have certain talents given to us by our Master that we should put to use and make gains for Him with. We should be wise and not behave like that wicked and slothful servant, who went to hide his Master’s talent in the ground. Of course, you know that the end of that servant was terrible; he was cast out into the outer darkness after the one talent he refused to use had been given to the servant who made use of his own five and gained five more. May you not end the way this wicked servant ended in Jesus’ Name. To shine can also mean “Do exploits” (Daniel 11:32) . Exploits means “Great things”. To shine also means to excel, to be above all others, just like Daniel and his friends excelled above all the wise men of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 1:17-20) . To shine can also mean to generate or produce light. This further means that, Jesus, being the Light of the world, is reproducing His light in us (John 9:5) . There is no way you will generate light without producing heat. This is what makes the difference between the sun and the moon. The sun generates light on its surface and its heat is felt on earth, though it is 93 million miles away. The moon however does not generate light, it only reflects the light from the sun, and hence we do not feel any heat from it, though it is only 239,000 miles away. This indicates that as you generate light, the heat of persecution is bound to come along. You do not need to be frightened or scared; you just need to be prepared for it. Monday 10 November 2014 TOPIC>>BEWARE OF PRIDE I MEMORY VERSE Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18 READ Isaiah 40:13-17 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 40:14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? 40:15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. 40:16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. 40:17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. MESSAGE A person that is self-existing and is self- sufficient is the only one that has the right to be proud. There is however no single person in all of human history that is self- existing or self-sufficient. Only God, who is the creator of all things that there is – man, animals, elements, molecules, atoms etc, is self-existing and self-sufficient. The Bible in 1 Timothy 6:16 says this of Him: “Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” It is therefore only God that has the exclusive right to pride. Yet, it is obvious that even God does not exhibit pride. This is shown in the regard He has even for lesser beings of His creation. Considering the infinite superiority of His being to anything or anyone else, one would expect Him to relate with us with impunity and not to be mindful of us at all (Psalm 8:4). In spite of the gap between his awesomeness and our lowly estate, God still condescend to relate with us. He shows concern for us in all of our predicaments, even to the point of making the ultimate self sacrifice. He gave His son to die for our sins so as to deliver us from the grave consequences of sin. God, the Almighty, the creator of the universe, the One larger than all that is and can ever be imagined, still makes Himself available to us at our beckoning. He protects, provide for, deliver, wipe tears from our eyes and pat us on the back etc, we mere mortals! Who then are you to be full of yourself, to be high minded, haughty or to look down on everyone else, just because of your position in your office, your wealth, talents, skills or beauty? All these are privileges; it is the Almighty God that gave you all these. No man receives anything except it is given by God (John 3:27, James 1:17). You should therefore be wise and come down from the dangerous position you have allowed pride to put you in. Your pride is essentially putting you in the position of God. This perhaps is not known to you, and may not be your intent, but unknown to you, that is your state. The mercy of God is being extended to you through this devotional this day, so that you may repent and not allow the unpleasant experience of the wrath of God meant for the proud to come upon you before you learn. Ask King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:1-34, he would tell you better. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR 2 KINGS 17:24-19:7 and PROVERBS 24:8-20 Key Point: Destruction is the reward for pride. Tuesday 11 November 2014 TOPIC>>BEWARE OF PRIDE II MEMORY VERSE And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him. Ephesians 6:9 READ Romans 12:3-10 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; 12:7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 12:8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; MESSAGE Do you know that there are many people who have lost precious opportunities that God meant for their breakthrough or turn-around, all because they think highly of themselves beyond what they really are? Quite a good number of God’s people are suffering unnecessarily just because they despised lofty opportunities in the form of persons, situations, gifts and relationships packaged in simple, unattractive and lowly boxes. Some of our sisters would not want to get married to anyone that is not at least at the same level as they are, due to their high educational qualifications, fast promotion to the position of executive in blue chip companies or because of their famous and wealthy backgrounds. As a result of this, they are not prepared for the will of God. God does not see the way we see; He has a purpose for us His people. It doesn’t matter if you are already an MD of a multinational corporation at age 25, God may say a first degree holder management trainee is your husband. Would you be humble enough to accept? Many have allowed their earthly privileged position or possession to make them miss out of God’s will for their lives; thus, a fulfilled and blissful marriage experience has eluded them. Young lady listen! If you were brought up with a silver spoon in your mouth or you are a high flyer and you are unmarried, be wise, you are now a child of God, your heavenly Father knows all about you, He determines who becomes this or that. Trust in Him with all your heart, He has your best interest at heart. That man God is saying is your husband, though he does not seem to measure up to your standard as you may claim, God is taking him somewhere. He is not at the bus stop of his life yet. All you need to do is to confirm if he is God’s will for you. If this is ascertained, you would be wise to accede to his proposal to you. But go into the relationship following the laid down guidelines of your church. If you do, you will not get your fingers burnt. Some of us also allow our position and wealth to interfere with the way we relate with people that are not as privileged as we are at this particular time. I write at this particular time because such people may be going somewhere with God like Joseph in Egypt. One thing we should bear in mind as children of God is that, God has a purpose for those He brings around us, including the driver, the house help, the gardener and others; they deserve to be treated with dignity. WEDNESDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2014 TOPIC>>MY BODY, HIS PROPERTY MEMORY VERSE I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 READ 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. MESSAGE The passion of God behind the admonition in today’s memory verse is evident. The goodness of God and His commitment to our wellbeing is far beyond our imagination. Can you comprehend this: that having paid the ultimate price for our redemption, He is still passionately pleading with those of us that are His, for our own sake, to keep our bodies? Though it is in our own best interest, yet He pleads with us. To start with, a person that says he or she is enjoying himself with cigarette smoking or taking of hard drugs does not know what he is saying. Such a person is destroying himself in bits. Likewise, the fellow given to alcohol is destroying and cutting short his age systematically. What about the fornicator and adulterer? The major vehicle for HIV infection is no other than sexual immoralities such as pre-marital sex, homosexuality, lesbianism and the likes. Presenting your body as a living sacrifice means denying your body the fashion or pleasures that are at variance with the ways of the kingdom you belong to. This includes denying yourself such aberrations like exposing your body through clothes that are in vogue. If the body of the believer in Christ is the temple of God, and God is holy, how does a child of God think he or she will be full of the Holy Spirit while unabatedly indulging in evil habits? Somebody must be deceiving himself or herself somehow. The Bible warns us not to grieve the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30). What other possible ways could the Holy Spirit be grieved, if not by rendering His habitation non-conducive for Him to dwell in? Is it not that those defiling His temple (our bodies) are asking Him (the Holy Spirit) to pack up and go elsewhere? The care of our body includes feeding it with the right things – good food and not junk food that causes obesity, and taking the right quantity of food at a time (gluttony is condemned by the Bible). Likewise, drinks must be non- alcoholic and non- nicotinic. Spiritually, feed on the word of God. Besides, treat the body with natural means for its refreshing like sleeping moderately and not inducing yourself with drugs to sleep. Also, use your body rightly. It is good to work hard, but then, learn also to give it its due rest. Don’t use the body for immorality in any form. Learn not to pamper your body either, it may crave those things that would make it to incur God’s wrath, it is your duty to deny it those things. You can do all these because the power of God through Christ is now in you. God is not demanding what you cannot do. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR 2 KINGS 21-19-23:27 and PROVERBS 25:1-14 KEY POINT: God desires purity of the heart as well as purity of the body. Thursday 13 November 2014 TOPIC>>SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE OF PRAYER MEMORY VERS£ Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Romans 12:12 Read: Ephesians 6:18 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Message In virtually every field of human endeavour, there are great men and women. Be it in science, arts, sports, politics, governance and religion, history is full of people regarded as great in these various fields. Many of such people were given to causes that are ephemeral and mundane. One common denominator in the life of such people or anyone that would be a success is ‘discipline’. What worthy thing it is therefore, when we apply the effort of self- discipline in the area of the one thing that is an avenue for attracting the favour and immense power of God to work on our behalf. This worthy avenue of drawing God’s power is prayer. The Bible commands us to pray always. Many people would ordinarily find it easier to spend time chatting either in the real world or in virtual cyber space than in praying always as the Bible commands. Note that God wants to manifest His glory in your life. But then, prayer is never at home with the flesh, rather, the flesh wants to gist or while away the time in some other way. This is why prayer is a discipline, a spiritual discipline. Know that it is more profitable for you to pray than to occupy your time with some other mundane things. Put the flesh in its place, discipline your flesh and be compelled to pray. How is it possible to pray always? Would we not be violating the word of God if we abandon our other responsibilities and spend all of our time on our knees by our bedside praying? Yes we will be. What is actually required of us is that our hearts must be attuned to God at all times, such that whether we are at home cooking in the kitchen or at the bus stop awaiting the arrival of a bus or on the wheel driving, a silent upward communication link is not far from us. With such heart posture, it is a usual thing to thank God for virtually every seemingly little but advantageous thing, as well as thanking Him for things that do not appear to be to our advantage. Such heart will always be full of heavenly joy, accompanied with a whisper of: all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28). Besides, for those that are baptized in the Holy Spirit, the ability to pray always is easier, as such a person can almost ceaselessly carry on praying in tongues quietly, irrespective of what he or she may be busy doing, except when he or she needs to pause to attend to someone. So much gets accomplished while praying in the Spirit. The whole demand in Ephesians 6:18 can easily be accomplished by doing so. That is the reason why you should get baptized in the Holy Spirit if you are not. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : 2 KINGS 23:28-25:30 and PROVERBS 25:15-28 Prayer Point: Pray that God will help you to be more disciplined in praying. Friday 14 November 2014 TOPIC>>NEW LIFE IN CHRIST MEMORY VERSE Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Read: 1 John 3:7-9 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Message There is a nature that is of the Earth and there is a nature that is of Heaven. Since the fall of man, the earthly nature of man has become corrupted and therefore is greatly under the influence of the kingdom of Satan. Characteristic features of this nature are: wickedness, moral perversion – sodomy and all sorts of indecent sexual practices, deception, fraudulent practices, poverty, ignorance, sickness etc. A person not in Christ carries this polluted nature around and is capable of manifesting any of its devil influenced character, irrespective of social and educational status. However, when a person comes to Christ, the power of the cross of Christ destroys this nature of sin and the person is given a new nature which is of God; a nature whose feature and expression include a holy character. The character of this new nature is described in 2 Peter 1:4: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” When a person truly gives his or her life to Jesus, some things occur spiritually in his or her life. The Bible says that fellow is delivered from the power of darkness and is translated into the kingdom of God’s Son (Colossians 1:13). Also, he or she now has Jesus dwelling in the inside. Jesus in Revelation 3:20 promised that, if you open the door of your heart, He would come in to your heart. Not only these, 1 John 3:9 reveals that the seed of God is now dwelling in you if you are in Christ. Also, with Jesus now dwelling in you and He being light, there would be no place for darkness. Darkness is the sphere of operation of sin and demons. It is not enough to know all these. The onus is now on you as a child of God to assert yourself based on the power of God that is now at work in you against the old nature of sin, Satan and the sinful and worldly influences around you. Hence, the Bible says you should be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, so that you would be able to stand your ground against the enemy of righteousness (Ephesians 6:10-13, James 4:7). Saturday 15 November 2014 TOPIC>>GROWING IN GRACE MEMORY VERSE But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18 Read: Colossians 2:6-7 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. MESSAGE Even though little children and babies enjoy many benefits such as being carried, being assisted in every situation and receiving prompt attention and care when they cry, it is not a desirable thing to remain a baby or a child. It is neither in the interest of the child nor that of its parents that a child or baby remains stagnant in growth and not mature. In like manner, while Jesus as the Great Shepherd of his people will gather the young ones with His arms and carry them in His bosom (Isaiah 40:11), He would not be delighted in having them remain immature indefinitely. To remain a babe in the faith for too long is to make yourself a liability to the body of Christ and an unnecessary burden for the leaders set over you. Such Christians don’t know their full rights in Christ, and hence, the enemy takes advantage of their ignorance to afflict them and cheat them. It is common knowledge that in the natural world, children do funny things that can bring them harm, the same applies spiritually. Spiritual babes can ignorantly inflict injury on themselves by allowing the devil to make them do foolish things. Such Christians will no doubt be carnal Christians. Besides, babies don’t reproduce and God hates unfruitfulness (John 15:1-2). With these in mind, it is therefore very undesirable to refuse to grow in your Christian life. Now, how is a Christian expected to grow? This is revealed in Colossians 2:6-7. “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” Note from the above passage that there are two directions of growth. Basically, a plant sends its root downwards, while its stem and branches grows upward. It is the root growing deep in the soil that gets food supply to support the stem, branches, leaves and fruiting of the plant above. So also must the children of God keep sending their roots deeper and deeper in Christ till an evident outward expression of growth and maturity in Christian virtues, character and wisdom is made manifest. Also, from the above passage, to achieve spiritual growth, you must expose yourself to Bible teachings i.e. sound doctrinal teachings that reveal the total counsel of God. You are not helping yourself if you select only the things in the word of God that suit you and neglect other instructions, warnings and chastisement. Prayer Point: Pray that the lord will help you to be consistent in exposing yourself to provisions of God for your growth - studying, meditating, praying, evangelising and obedience to the word of God. Sunday 16 November 2014 TOPIC>>COMMITMENT MEMORY VERSE For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45 Read: John 9:3-6 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. 9:6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. MESSAGE The Master Himself is our example in commitment. He told us that He came not to be served but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). He demonstrated this by the way He lived. He lived serving and ultimately served us by giving His life for us. Furthermore, He was also serving His Father and was committed to doing the will of His Father. When He was about leaving the earth, He said this to us: as my Father have sent me, so send I thee (John 20:21). How committed are you to Jesus and to His will? Many people, perhaps including you, are not in any way participating in the vast activities and work of the kingdom. Many attend church regularly, but they do not commit themselves to service. They are mere benchwarmers, only consuming without giving out, No wonder they don’t experience new dimensions of the Holy Spirit. However, some people view becoming a worker as an avenue for socialising and as a fashionable thing. Such are not really committed. This should not be so! Really, it is of no use coercing anyone to serve God. God Himself will not be pleased with that. He loves a cheerful giver, including cheerfully giving your service to Him. You need personal revelation of what Jesus suffered and went through to redeem you in order to change your outlook. He is the maker of heaven and earth, the One without whom nothing was made that was made (John 1:3). Yet, He passed through the womb of His creature, was born as a baby, grew like every child. He trekked some 100 miles spanning Jerusalem via Samaria to Galilee to and fro regularly. He was slapped, flogged, spat upon, crowned with thorns which pierced the skin on His head and rough edged crude nails were driven through His hands and feet. All these terrible sufferings He endured for no offence He committed but for you and me. What then can be too dear, too great or too precious to us that will stand in the way of our complete commitment to His will and service? Besides, every service we render cheerfully and willingly is not in vain but is credited to our account for due recompense of reward when it matters (1 Corinthians 15:58). Oh what a good Father we have! Furthermore, you need to realise that time is short. You ought to strive to achieve much for your own good before the time is up. Seize every opportunity to serve, so as to be in a position to get great rewards. Action Point: Evaluate the level of your commitment to God’s service and make necessary adjustments.
