Stephen Keshi To Sign A New N6million Contract by unuane1(m): 5:23pm On Aug 29, 2014 |
The Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, has agreed to sign a N6million contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and the Sports Ministry as soon as the NFF crisis comes to an end. The Sports Minister and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Tamuno Danagogo, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday evening the current crisis has been causing hitches in Keshi’s contract else he would have signed another one. Mr. Danagogo also revealed that the Aminu Maigari-led board was not keen on rehiring Stephen Keshi. “We all know that Keshi’s contract expired after the World Cup and we were trying to see whether they would negotiate with him, then Maigari was suspended. Umeh came in and reopened talks with him. They said they cannot pay. But we have a match on September 6 so I had to intervene,” he explained He said he waded in by contacting Keshi and offering him a new contract. “I asked Keshi if he was desirous to handle the team again and he said yes. I then asked him to come, assuring him that I would take care of what it takes for him to handle the team for the two matches we have in September after which we can talk about the contract,” the Minister said. He disclosed that the difference between what the Federation offered Keshi and the coach’s request was a million naira. “It is just about N1 million and we believe that it is no longer a challenge,” he said. Keshi’s contract as the Super Eagles head coach expired immediately after the Brazil 2014 World Cup. He will however oversee the Super Eagles when the team faces Congo or Rwanda in the September 6 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Calabar. https://m.premiumtimesng.com/sports/167488-stephen-keshi-to-sign-a-new-n6million-contract.html 2 Likes
