SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) Comedienne Joan Rivers remained on life support Sunday in a New York hospital, according to media reports. Rivers, 81, was hospitalized Thursday and placed in an induced coma after her heart and lungs failed, reports said. Rivers was stricken at her doctor's office during a routine procedure on her vocal cords, according to reports. The acerbic comic has appeared in movies and clubs, and has written 12 books, but perhaps is best known for hosting the TV shows "Fashion Police" and "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?" co-starring her daughter, Melissa Rivers. Joan Rivers first came to prominence in 1965 on Johnny Carson's "Tonight" show.
