And what is the whole continent of Africa doing about the killer disease?

Just sitting on their lazy a.sses waiting for free handouts.

Suddenly all the voices of advanced medical degrees braggarts have gone mute.

EngrAbiola: Ebola Detector – Following the upsurge in the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in West Africa, Japanese researchers say they have developed a new method to detect the presence of the deadly disease in 30 minutes.

According to Professor Jiro Yasuda and his team at Nagasaki University, the ebola detector could allow doctors to quickly diagnose infection of the Ebola virus.

ebola detector

The team also stated that their process is also cheaper than the system currently in use in West Africa where the virus has already killed more than 1552 people, according to the World Health Organisation, WHO.

Tallesty1: A step at a time bro. A machine that can detect the virus in 30mins might probably lead to a cure.

Beggers are not choosers, Nigeria should come up with their own if they are not ok with this one. It is not like these Guys has two heads.

bossanmayor: woow it funni how de black race can't do notin always depending on white people,Sha na tym. Ebola has plagued Africa for 4 decades. Africa has no hope of dealing
with it and waits for the west to look into our problem for us. Our
leaders invest nothing into directing the proper healthcare preventive
measures which are cheap to establish or in investing in and
sponsoring appropriate research into more complex levels of disease
management. We embrace the cultural dangers and advanced risk
habits from Europe, but are denied the associated health and social
wealth checks they have. African leaders and government cabal
‘business’ tycoons have the most private jets in the world, but the
people have the least health-care expenditure per capita, per person –
less than $100/year/person in Africa compared to more than $8000 in
the US.
We call to Europe to help. We run to France, to America to set up
regional collaborations among us to tackle terror; we run to them to
decide how we must manage Ebola.
It is to our shame in Africa; and it’s not just our leaders whose heads
should be in the ground, but us all.

Airforce1: Develop the cure

Not just the detector

shut up your dirty mouth there. There's no ebola in Japan yet they're making efforts to combat the disease. Your country that has ebola what have they done. They instituted a committee that includes the famous charlatan Maurice iwu aka kolanut.

And you're opening your mouth to talk rubbish. They don't owe you sh.it

Do you know how difficult it is to be a Nigeria?

Last week, we saw this picture below and people were poking fun at these old men domiciled in USA
for donkey years. Some are doctors, engineers, lawyers and professionals in different disciplines.

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1665659_10599646_758958600835121_7782755974389471887_n_jpgae2eef0546455e6b94ba63fbcb9a243a

When you look at the pictures what do you see?

Matured minds?

Guess what?

They had an election that is considered worse than any election ever held in Nigeria.

2 officers for every position from different factions that have turned the internet into a battlefield.

Yep! That's the people that will bring the change you yearn for after decades of sojourn in a democratic environment

Kenai: So it takes students and researchers in another university in another country in another continent to develop preventive materials to help Africans and the diseases ravaging them, while our many useless universities in Nigeria and their students are busy chanting "Better by far" and "Naturally ahead" with absolutely nothing to show for it except job seekers and cultists?

1 billion likes.

We have a massive problem in this country, and unfortunately, things will only get worse. As long as meritocracy continues to be subdued in all aspects of our national life, we will remain backwards, and we will continue to depend on oyinbo people to develop solutions to our own problems.

In Nigeria, some rétards will tell you that your "book knowledge" is unnecessary because it does not translate to Naira and Kobo. "It is not by First Class or 2.1", or "it is not by who sabi book", bla bla bla. Yet, "book knowledge" is the bedrock of research, and research is the driver of development. That is why EVERY top private and public organisation in the civiised world has a Research & Development (R & D ) department that receives millions (and sometimes, billions) of dollars in annual funding.

If we had our best in the Ministry of Health, we would have devised effective ways to prevent/contain Ebola proliferation. If we had our best in the Ministry of Power, we would have 24/7 electricity. If we had our best in the Armed Forces, Boko Haram would have long been history. . . .and so on and so forth. Unfortunately, we have mostly incompetent buffoons in sensitive positions, no thanks to our warped man-know-man, tiwa-ni-tiwa orientation.

Advanced societies like Japan are where/what they are because their best and brightest people are in the driver's seat. Their first 11 are on the pitch. No room for nepotism, tribalism, and other petty prejudices that sacrifice merit for mediocrity.
