WHAT WOULD THEY HAVE SAID...
If Patrick Sawyer was a MUSLIM?
If Ebola had originated in SUDAN
MALI, SAUDI ARABIA or LIBYA?
If those being quarantined were
to be MUSLIMS? If the new cases were recorded
in
the NORTHERN PART?
If EBOLA were to be spread among
the group of people sharing water
for ablution?
If Ebola was to be transmitted by rams and sheep
muslims
slaughter for Eid and namings?
We give thanks to Allah for
everything.
Muslims are not enjoined to eat
bats, monkeys or chimps. Our mosques are not
empty
despite the warning to avoid
groups.
We still assemble toes to toes,
shoulders to shoulders, five times
everyday. Our Jum'at centres are not empty
on Fridays.
We still pay visits to our families
and friends and we do not avoid
relatives.
Let us give thanks to Allah for His grace and
protection over us.

toe to toe gathering is not advisable in epidemic ara. I hope we don't experience the epidemic in Northern Nigeria. by the way it started in Guinea a majority muslim country in west Africa

Guinea population bis actually 85% islam, 10% xtian.
An epidemic should be fight and not to be politicised or adding religious connotation to it.

It will be a bigger problem in Northern Nigeria of it were to hit the region

1. Ebola was first discovered in Zaire (now known as DR Congo) in 1976
2. The present outbreak started with a baby and people transmitted to others out of ignorance without malice or willful neglect for the safety of others.
3. The man is saying and rightly that were Sawyer (who appeared to have deliberately brought it to Nigeria) a Muslim, the reaction would have been different. Note that President Jonathan rightly called him a madman and the Health Minister referred to the issue as viral terrorism.
The first thread opened on it would have been filled with pages and pages abusing Allah and His Messenger (SAW). It does not matter if the person has not been to a mosque for 10 years - Islam would have been blamed
If a Christian did it, religion would not have been mentioned or it would have been attributed to the devil

Note that the religion has not been mentio9ned so far but we know that
Sawyer knowingly came to Nigeria - he was not a Muslim
Mr Koye who took it to Port Harcourt is not a Muslim
The lady who jumped surveillance and went to Enugu thereby putting the lives of many at risk in Enugu is not a Muslim

Patient Zero in the Ebola outbreak, researchers suspect, was a 2-year-old boy who died on Dec. 6, just a few days after falling ill in a village in Guéckédou, in southeastern Guinea. Bordering Sierra Leone and Liberia, Guéckédou is at the intersection of three nations, where the disease found an easy entry point to the region.

A week later, it killed the boy’s mother, then his 3-year-old sister, then his grandmother. All had fever, vomiting and diarrhea, but no one knew what had sickened them.

Two mourners at the grandmother’s funeral took the virus home to their village. A health worker carried it to still another, where he died, as did his doctor. They both infected relatives from other towns. By the time Ebola was recognized, in March, dozens of people had died in eight Guinean communities, and suspected cases were popping up in Liberia and Sierra Leone — three of the world’s poorest countries, recovering from years of political dysfunction and civil war.

Muslims don't politicise such things
This advice is for those who specialise in religious hate
Go and check out the thread on the Saudi Arabia's possible ban from hajj of people from Ebola-hit countries

Had patrick been a muslim we would have heard all sort of nonsensical statement, but once again Muslims on nairaland and beyond have continued to show great wisdom and maturity in dealing with this sort of issues.
