I have a friend using 1994 to 1998 toyota avalon and he uses total quartz 5000 SAE 40 now I am amazed considering I use the visco oil SAE 40 for my generator. Is it ideal to use this engine oil for cars.

Thank you and be blessed as you comment on this topic. Lol

this should help.

Petrol generators generally use 5w-30 or 10w-30. Check your own manual.

I don't see any logical reason for anyone to use a single weight oil in a modern car.

Your friend has shortened, significantly, the lifetime of that engine.

Have him replace the oil post haste with the proper viscosity.

I don't think he would listen says that is what he has been using. But those single oil rating are used for what

You use the viscosity that the engine was designed for. I'm sure there is some application for single weight oil. I know they use in industrial machines which runs in a set temperature and environment like an oil drilling machine, etc.

Even my lawnmower runs a multi weight Mobil1 grin
