Did you reset the service meter after the last oil change?

Only Engine oil changed? What about other consumable parts? After all said and done, reset service light.
NB: When was vehicle purchased and what level of service have you done since purchase?

You do not state the year or mileage of your vehicle, so impossible to give you a definitive answer.
However, a short lesson - oil changes are not the same as "regular maintenance".

Regular maintenance is done at manufacturer recommended intervals, usually miles driven (every 10K miles, 30K miles etc), and is a comprehensive check and replace of various components of the vehicle. Oil and filter change is a small part of this.

Oil change is done in between manufacturer recommended maintenance intervals, to keep vehicle lubricated.
To use a human analogy, regular maintenance is like your yearly physical check. Oil change is your flu shots or taking daily vitamins to stay healthy.

Every auto manufacturer has a maintenance schedule for their vehicles. Find it in your owners manual or online.
It is wise to follow the recommended maintenance, whether or not you think the parts need to be replaced. It will keep you from breakdowns, headaches, costly engine replacements!

Here is a general one for the XC90:

Hope this helps?

Please Do This

For the 2001 - 2007 volvo models to shut the service light

1. Turn key to position I
2. Press odometer button and while doing so turn the key to position II
3. Hold odometer button until hazard triangle in center of dash flashes when this occurs release the button.
4. Go ahead and start the car and the light should be off.

Your radio station presets will be lost after this reset so if you have any stations you like write them down before hand.

04 - 07 XC90

Average fuel consumption.

15 - 17 Mpg city driving.

21 - 23 MPG Highway

May get better MPG if engine/other components are in great shape
