cao: To be honest, they lost me at first person, then they failed to find me at online...but, it looks like one of those games I'll enjoy to watch, when being played.

Destiny review: Final verdict on most expensive video game ever made is a disappointing lack of ambition

Destiny is a disappointment. There are plenty of ways to sugar coat that fact, the most obvious by pointing out that it is still a good game in its own right, but despite its many positives Destiny is not some great step forward in video game design or technology. What it does it does well, but it’s discouraging just how obvious its lack of ambition and variety becomes.

The first impressions of Destiny are very good, as anyone that played the alpha and beta will tell you. And certainly after our first day with the game we were very impressed, despite the litany of obvious problems that we listed in our initial report. But as time has gone on, and our progress into the game has deepened, those problems have inevitably become more damaging, and the initial thrill a more distant memory.

In Short: It’s not short of spectacle but in terms of innovation and variety this is nowhere near as forward-thinking as Bungie would like to pretend.

Pros: The gunplay and loot design is expertly crafted to keep you playing. Fantastic art design and music, with some stunning visuals. Mountains of content and great co-op.

Cons: Repetitive enemies, non-existent set pieces, and terrible bosses. No new ideas and overly simplistic role-playing and customisation elements. Almost zero plot.

Score: 7/10
