Is Dangote Really The Richest Man In Nigeria? by kropelgrada(m): 2:18am On Sep 10, 2014 |
I know this might sound funny, but given the type of country that we live in and the kind of people that dwell in it,i still find it difficult to believe that Dangote is the richest man in Nigeria. Aliko Dangote might not actually be the richest man in Nigeria and here are some facts that made me think again about Dangote being the richest man in Nigeria. It is no longer news that some wealthy northern Nigerians own Oil blocs in the south, but what is news is that most of them have actually gone into partnership with some Multi-national Oil Companies to produce crude oil and these oil blocs are seriously producing and selling crude oil on a daily basis. You can imagine the amount of money that these guys are making on a daily basis.Check the price of one barrel of crude and multiply say by 250,000 barrels because that is what some of these oil-blocs produce on an average in a day;and you will get the real picture. But because these oil blocs are still in contention, these silent billionaires won't brag about their wealth or draw attentions to themselves but quietly be smiling to the bank daily.Mind you, production on these oil blocs are not regulated by NNPC because these oil-blocs were bought outrightly or solely allocated to these individuals either for personal gains or for political reasons by the then military junta especially during the era of IBB and Abacha. I can name a few oil blocs owned by some individuals from the north and the respective companies with which they use to produce from these oil-blocs.But i won't on this forum because i still like my head o..besides me go like still own oil-bloc one day na . Secondly the Maryam Abacha theory which states that and i quote "No matter what the Federal Government takes from us,we can never be as poor as the Dangotes" might still be a proven fact. And the reason i came up with this conclusion is due to the recent return of $227 million of Abacha's loot to the FG of Nigeria.Cos how can you explain to me that 16 years after this guy's death they are still returning millions of dollars of this guy's loot. And it was reported that he looted over $8 billion dollars.Of course you and i know that the Abachas' are no push over given their history(The FG of Nigeria can attest to that),so we know that they have still got a large chunk of that loot and that your thought is as good as mine that they have invested a lot of the money somewhere and quietly reaping dividend. And it is also a known fact that they have one of the richest men in Cameroon as an in-law whose net-worth tripled since he got married to Abacha's daughter.Do your maths and you'll know where his major capital is coming from.Watch out for Mohammed Abacha's campaign as he vies to be the next governor of Kano State. So it is hard to easily say that Dangote is the richest man in Nigeria.Officially he is the richest man but going by some known and unknown facts which we might never be told he might not be. Even Dangote himself is usually always humbled in the midst of his northern brothers because he knows that some of them are stupendously wealthy and he still has some catching up to do. Arab Money |

According to Otedola (the 3rd or 4th richest Nigerian): "I see him (Dangote) heading towards the rank of the richest man in the world". The Maryam Abacha theory you quoted was made when Dangote wasn't even in the first 300 list of richest men, today he is in the first 30, and even the 23rd. Just one of his companies, DangCem, which he owns about 93% stake in, generates a profit of over 300billion naira as at 2013. Also note that the guy is now investing fully in petroleum drilling/refining, agriculture, telecommunication, and Power. 1 Like |

agonbello: Richest black man in the world, richest African in the world. In the whole world combine, only 22pple are richerYes i know these facts bro..that is why i said officially he is the richest. Bt do u how much the owners of these oil blocs make in a day? why do you think Dangote wants to invest in the oil and gas sector? It is oil we are talking about here bro. One of the individually owned oil-bloc is the major producer and exporter of condensate in Nigeria Mind you condensate export is not regulated by OPEC,so this guys might be producing and exporting 1 million barrels of condensate a day for as much as we know. Crazier things have happened in Nigeria. |

polymathic: the dude is a king in either morocco or tunisia, can't rem d particular country.. He's super wealthy but forbes couldn't list him cos of some reasons Bro, try getting your facts straight before giving it out to the public. 1. The net worth of King of Morocco is $2.5Billion. Remember that Dangote donated almost half of that amount ($1.2B) early this year. 2. Tunisia isn't governed by a king, but rather a president. And his net worth is about $145million (less than 1% value of Dangote Cement) which he dangote owns about 93%. |
