The Black Stars coach is about losing his job and could be replaced by Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac who is already in town

By Kent Mensah

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is on the verge of losing his job and the Ghana FA is expected to make it official soon.

Goal Ghana understands that the severance package of the local coach is being discussed and a meeting between the FA and coach Appiah is scheduled for Friday, September 12 to finalise the parting agreement.

Appiah led the four-time African champions to their worst ever World Cup campaign in Brazil when the Black Stars picked just a point after three group games at the last global football showpiece. Two midfielders - Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari – were expelled in camp over issues of insubordination.

Sources have revealed that coach Appiah is yet to be officially informed of the decision but has been hinted and has psyched himself up for any “bad news within the next 24 hours.”

The Ghana FA is in discussion with the headline sponsors of the Black Stars – the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation – and other stakeholders to agree on the compensation package of the ‘Silent Killer.’

Meanwhile, Appiah’s former boss Milovan Rajevac is in Ghana and has been tipped to be his heir.

Efforts to reach the Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Saanie Daara have proved futile.

Another sad chapter in African football management. African football will have no future till National FA's empower local coaches, keep faith with them and stop this rush for foreign handlers. Ghana's performance in the World Cup was poor because of their over-reliance on big names, the over-sized egos of a number of their star players, the debacle with allowances and also the last minute integration of players who hitherto had 'retired' from the Black Stars. None of these can be laid solely at Coach Appiah's doorstep. The Ghana FA too has its share of guilt.
By the way when will these dysfunctional African FA's that are clamoring for foreign coaches agree to sack themselves and be replaced by expatriates when they too fail in the management of the Sport in their countries?
