Waec Vs Neco, Why I Think Neco Is More Fair! by micronut(m): 1:58pm On Sep 12, 2014
On Mon August 11th 2014, WAEC Released the MAY/JUNE Result where it. was announced that only 31.28% of the candidates passed satisfactorily with 5credits and above, including maths and english. Fastfoward to.Wed 10th Sept 2014, NECO came out with her own result, saying 52% of the cadidates passed convincinly with 5credits and above including maths and English........ Now, one wonders what could have resulted in these.disparities in figures, could it have been that one is tougher than the other? or sheer wickedness of one's part? or one is just being soft on candidates compared to another? these are questions seriously begging for an answer to spot whr the problem of students poor performance lies going by the general outcry of parents and stakeholders regarding the last waec result. abi no be same students wrote the same exam? left to me, i refuse to believe waec is tougher in question format compared to neco, cos i wrote both exams exactly 11years ago and I remember exactly how it was in those different sittings, needless shld i also include that have marked both exams script in recent years and i also do knw hw their marking schemes also looks like.......Am so concerned why d yardsticks differs, cos I wnt lost of counts of young chaps in my neighboorhood who bleeped and aced jamb exam with relatively high mark as 263 to study pharmacy and 271 in post ume too, only for his waec result to come with no credit in both maths and english until neco came with hers, whr dis dude performed creditably in flying colours........ thanks to neco u may say, yes! this same boy is topping.his 300level pharmacy class presently, with this u wonder what is missing...... write ur waec in one old bush sec schl and compared d result with all dis private schls and wonders y on earth u had F9 Parallel as if u submitted a blank sheet... the reason is this, waec has labelled some old schls as no good type, thus an innocent outstanding chap could be a victim except only in a handful few cases, I have testimonies for this........ most of the best student in my depts way back in schl, are armed with a 2 sittings results becos waec has. shot them in d leg yet some from lagos private schools have all on a sinlgle sheet of one sitting, yet they knws poo or are no better of than some of us.... lt is well, i congratulates those innocent students neco has saved from another year of perpectual o level disgrace.......... big congrats cos u are all better than that piece of paper, I had to stop here with my friend phrase, ' NECO VS WAEC' ALL NA MARKETING STRATEGY....... -IRE OOO......... NECO SAVING NIGERIAN STUDENTS FROM DISGRACE SINCE 1500BC.......LEND UR VOICE AND UR.OBSERVATION

I guess NECO is less strict now. Back in my secondary school days, more people fail Neco than WAEC

Most people I know before and during my time had 'plenty' C's. I think that's NECO's favorite grade. But as long as it isn't F9, it's good enough.

I guess u are right cos c's in all is better than distinctions in others without math or english cos u wld still have to re write it

I wrote both dix year nd if u may ask neco is d harder cos 4 maths further maths was asked , waec questions is so cheap . For my mind wat cos mass failure ave many factors ,u pple knw d majority but d one u dnt knw is dat dose waec markers use 2 give d script dey shld ave mark to dere students to mark for no reason i dnt knw nd am n't ready 2 knw . I ave a frnd wich my schl maths teacher gave d scripts to mark, could u imagine the first ten scripts d guy marked he just marked dem down.knw for sure dis happen at sum places too..

I wrote my Neco in 2004. Neco hardly give students about C. most of my set got Cs. I got Bs and 1 A in my waec but all Cs in Neco. I think waec is more fair in grading than neco.
