Nigeria and Dark Fibres: What hope for End Users. by joftech(m): 7:24pm On Sep 21, 2005
Yesterday i travelled down to Lagos, and as usual workmen were on the road digging and laying fibre optic cables as usual.

What i don't still get with all this is what are these comapnies (GLO, MTN,...) doing with these dark fibres if i may call it that, are they laying them for the tech necesities or for competition sake, is thier microwave network not enough to carry voice traffics.

I think they need to open up access to these networks so that end users can access it for data transfers instead of only giving access to corporate money-bags.

I want people that know better on these companies and their fibre network operations to tell me what i might be missing here.

If not for this people, we would still be walloping in th magnitude of dis-communication. The main point is watch them do their thing as long as communication is made easy...
