Economic Importance Of Snakes by slimbiggy(m): 2:03pm On Sep 13, 2014 |
I created this thread as a counter thread to the one on Snake farming. Someone asked the merits and demerits of it, well I believe this will shade a little light on the advantages. Introduction: Snakes are the nature donated creatures that do both the helping and killing of humans. According to scientists, snakes are available since thousands of years. Most of the snakes are very poisonous, while some of them are poison less. There are different kinds of snakes namely Rattle snake, Indian Cobra (nagam), King Cobra, etc. We shall see about some of the snakes. The Snake Behaviour: The snakes are very curious creatures. Most of the snakes used to eat the food killed by themselves. Snakes mostly like to eat rats, frogs, etc. Snakes did not kill human directly. It is only afraid of human and so it kills people to save themselves. The Python and Anaconda used to Swallow their food. Most of the snakes are very active during night. Snakes lay eggs in the soil and the eggs will be hatched in 15 to 18 days. The Indian Cobra: One of the most poisonous creatures. Its one drop of poison can kill 10 men at a time. It makes its head portion flat when it get angry to squeeze the poison. The Indian Cobra has a ‘U’ shaped line on their flat portion of head. It lays eggs about 8 to 10 at a time. The King Cobra: The top ranker in the snake catalogue, by its poison and anger. The King cobra makes its own relations, the snakes, as its food. The squeeze their poison upto 10 meters and above. An immediate death will be caused by its poison. It is mostly in Black shaded brown colour. They usually live in thick forests. Their lifespan is about 30 years and above. The Anaconda: These are the snakes , that are large by their size. But, Anaconda are non poisonous. They used to live in mountains and high hill areas. They kill their prey and swallow it. Its mouth can open upto a diameter of0.8 meters. Once it eat prey, then it did not take any food for about 3to 4months and above. Their lifespan is about 50 to 60 years. Snake- Advantages: * Some kinds of snakes in the farms eat rats and save grains from loss. * Snake âs poison is used to prepare anti-poison for snake bite. * In some countries (eg. India), snakes are given training and are used for doing some tricks, which helps people to have their job for daily life. Conclusion: Even though the snakes are dangerous, they are the child of nature. Some people kill them for their poison, flesh and skin. Some people have a wrong belief, that snakes have emerald in their mouth. So people kill it. This violent activities should be avoided to prevent snakes from being exhausted.
