This week is one week all residents of Owerri will pray never to encounter again. It has been greeted by various tragedies and accidents in and around Owerri.

First, a former House of Assembly member, Kingsley Nkemka was reportedly shot by assasins at Mberi while returning from meetings with facilitators for his political ambition. TalkofNaija.com reported that he was ordered to get into the booth of his car before he was shot.

The Imo State Univeristy (IMSU) junction that has become infamous for causing various fatal accidents also recorded another ghastly motor accident as a heavy duty truck rammed into pedestrians on the road killing scores of people. There are still speculations on the exact casualty.

Another ghastly motor accident around Mberi, Mbaitoli LGA reportedly the lives of 5 people while others sustained injuries according to an eye witness. This didn’t however generate much attention because it didn’t happen on a major road like the IMSU Junction.

Yesterday, another major disaster happened along the Owerri-Onitsha road late in the evening. According to information made available to AlaOwerri.com, about 3 people died from the accident.

It will be recalled that a keke napep driver also lost his life in the last week of August following a heavy rainfall in Owerri around the IMSU junction.
