Lamination Renders Your Certificate Invalid In US. by Heart2heart(m): 4:01pm On Sep 14, 2014
Did you know or are you aware that lamination of your certificates renders it invalid? Do you know that laminating your certificates reduces its authenticity and general acceptance? Do you know that such documents are not acceptable in almost all parts of the United states? I am trying to make more inquiries and research on this with respect to other nations. If you have had a personal experience or read something on this before please kindly share. A friend of mine i visited in New jersey last year, told me this but i confirmed it during a fair i attended; held by Oil companies in Texas.

Na wa o. With the kind poor ink we use in our certificate printings here in Nigeria, lamination helps preserve our certifications. God help us.

I've actually heard this before... Infact when I was going for my youth service, I was told that the screening officials at the camp won't accept my B.sc Certificate if it was laminated... I wasn't too sure about this so I just decided to leave it like that without laminating.. When I got to camp though, I don't remember them turning down anyone with a laminated certificate, even though I was not too focused on any other person apart from me... But I think if you can keep your certificate in a safe place, it's somewhat better than laminating it so as to avoid any incidence of certificate refusal due to lamination

Provided the Lamination does not alter the writings on the certificate, I see no reason why the certificate should be rejected. Well they mwy hsve there reasons for doing that...

As at last year nov when I got in(NYSC)..laminated call up letters were not accepted at my camp(bayelsa)..so those that did it had to struggle with razor blades to detach the document..that's the one I have witnessed

Since you've witnessed it first hand, then I think it's just summarily better that people avoid laminating their documents as much as they can.. Using a razor would just end up spoiling the whole thing

Yeah! I have heard about that before and as a result I didn't laminate my school certificate. I could remembered a banter between I and my friend when we went to make photocopies of our credentials in a computer center.

MY FRIEND: why didn't u laminate your school result.

ME: Heard laminated documents are not acceptable in the US and some European countries, that u would be made to remove the laminating films before it could be accepted and if u want to do that u might end up destroying ur document.

MY FRIEND: Hahahaha.... Who told u this lie?.?
#Made attempt to collect my certificate and gives to the shop attendant.

ME: Shebi na my certificate! your own lost?

MY FRIEND: Guy...who ever told u this only deceived u. u know u really worked hard to get this certificate, u need to laminate it to protect it from dirts, water etc.

ME: Laughing....Because you've laminated yours, u want me to do same with mine?.? Abi u no want make I use am for JAND?

MY FRIEND: No be only JAND na Botswana or Niger.

ME: Pack well jare!

the banter continued....

nor doubt am... Of recent even in Nigeria, if you want to legalize ur certificates, you have to remove the laminating films.. The ideal thing now is you put the original copy of ur certs at home and be going abt with only ftokopy

I've always been against lamination of documents. All certificates neatly arranged, I'm not in favour of lamination.
