FEAR OF EBOLA: Private Schoolsdemand Students’ Medicalcertificate On Resumption by Testdabrain: 2:51pm On Sep 15, 2014
The President of National Association
of Proprietors of Private Schools
(NAPPS) , Dr. Jibril Muhammad has
said that medical certificate on the
Ebola virus would be demanded from
students when schools resume on
Sept.22.
The NAPPS president said the decision
was taken during their meeting on the
new resumption date fixed by the
federal government, according to
report from Daily trust Addressing
newsmen he said:
“In a situation whereby a parent
cannot comply, school authorities will
undertake the medical examination to
be paid for by the parent at his or her
own convenient time,” he said.
Urging parents to comply with the
directive, he said the measure was in
the best interest of all stakeholders in
the education sector. He faulted the
call by Nigerian Medical Association
(NMA) for the extension of the
resumption date, describing it as a
deliberate attempt to disrupt
education in the country.
Meanwhile, the Kano State
government has faulted the demand
for medical certificates from students
by the state’s chapter of the association
asking the association to discard it.
“This is not the agreement reached
between the state government and
proprietors of private schools.
We have not given them the
permission to take such measure. We
will not agree with the demand at all,”
the state Commissioner for
Information, Alhaji Abubakar Nuhu
Danburam , said.
