A woman was eaten alive by hungry crocodiles after she jumped into their enclosure at a zoo in Bangkok.

Wanpen Inyai, 65, apparently committed suicide by throwing herself in to the midst of 1,000 crocodiles at Samut Prakarn Crocodile Farm & Zoo.

Inyai was reportedly suffering from depression in the days before her death and had not spoken a word to anybody in the period before her horrific suicide bid.

CCTV images show her removing her shoes before making the death plunge.

A distressing image posted online shows one of the enormous reptiles target the woman who is in the water, only moments before she was devoured.

Zoo keepers were seen desperately trying to ward off the crocs in a bid to stop them from attacking the woman but their efforts failed; she was torn to pieces.

Police could only identify Inyai from her identity documents left floating in the water.

The woman had depression. Depression in elderly people often goes untreated because many people think that depression is a normal part of aging and a natural reaction to chronic illness, loss and social transition.
Many older persons think that depression is a character flaw and are worried about being made fun of or of being humiliated. They may blame themselves for their illness and are too ashamed to get help. Others worry that treatment would be too costly.

If only she sought/found help on time, this would have been averted.
