The men of Ogun State police command attached to Ayetoro Division on Monday arrested a 25-year-old man, Kayode Akanni, of Pedepo Village in Ayetoro for defiling a 3-year-old girl. The suspect was said to have tricked the victim into his room, before he defiled her, injuring her in her private part. The command spokesman, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said it was the injuries inflicted on the girl that exposed Akanni. This, he said, made her parents to report the matter to the police and the suspect was promptly arrested. The suspect, he added, has confessed to the crime. He said, “During police interrogation, it was discovered that the suspect tricked the young and innocent girl into his room by telling her to bring to him a bunch of key outside the room. “It was after that he had unlawful carnal knowledge of the baby. “The suspect has confessed to the crime,while the victim has been taken to hospital for treatment.” Adejobi said the commissioner of police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered the case be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation Eleweran, Abeokuta for thorough investigation. Adejobi said the command would carry out thorough investigation and perfect prosecution of the matter, as such would debar people from engaging in such barbaric act.
