Lagos - An indigenous business conglomerate, Slok
Group, has unveiled plans to launch what is said were the
first locally manufactured phone in the country.
Chairman of Slok Group, Dr Orji Kalu, said the phone
which will be unveiled before the end of the year.
It will initially be available in Nigeria and South Africa
market before moving to other regional markets.
Kalu noted that the mobile phones would have all the
features of modern phones, which will enable it to
compete with other phones in the market.
“Very soon, the Slok Group is rolling out the first ever
indigenously made mobile phone called Slok Mobile. It is
phone we have built to be sold in Nigeria and across
Africa. I am rolling out the Slok telephone in less than
eight weeks time,” he said
The former governor said Slok phone would be a utility
device.
He said Slok Group was truly an African company that
was "proudly Nigerian."
