China Construct Mobile phone sidewalks For Phone Addicts!! by adrelanine: 11:07pm On Sep 22, 2014
Smartphone addicts who never look up have been relegated to a special sidewalk lane in Chongqing, where China's first mobile phone-only sidewalk was recently installed in a bid to cut down on accidents.
Smartphone-wielding pedestrians are a bane of modern society--these distracted texters have been blamed for everything from inconveniencing others with their slow pace to causing accidents.
To reduce smartphone-caused accidents, Chongqing installed a mobile phone-only sidewalk along a portion of Yangren Street.
Despite the city's good intentions, the mobile phone-only sidewalk has generated criticism and ridicule with some saying that the design only encourages bad habits and will likely cause more accidents.
