What Would You Do If You Were In Gbemi’s Shoes? by arvinsloane(m): 2:07pm On Sep 23, 2014
I listened to a radio programme some days ago and what I
heard left me thinking.
The moderator was trying to find out why some men cheat
on their wives. Interestingly a lot of women called in to
speak for and against the men. Most women that called into
the show were of the opinion that men have no sufficient
reasons to cheat on their spouses or partners. Surprisingly
some women called in to defend the men. They claimed a
lot of women become shabby in their dressing especially at
home after marriage. They also said women tend to forget
that the ‘game’ does not end after marriage that in fact the
‘game’ begins after marriage. “Do not take those things that
attracted your man to you for granted after marriage. In fact,
you should do more of those things that the guy confessed
attracted him to you in marriage. Some also get seriously
lazy in bed, in fact some women come up with all sorts of
theatrics just to discourage their men from asking for some
bedroom activity. I’m not saying you cannot say no
sometimes, I’m just saying your no should be genuine,”
admonished one of the female callers.
As the show progressed and some female callers having
some fun bashing their men and men generally, a certain
Gbemi called in. Gbemi’s call changed the pace, tone and
the reactions of subsequent callers.
What did Gbemi say? Gbemi called in to say that her father
was cheating on her mother. She claimed her mother
doesn’t know but she knows and that her father knows she
is aware of his cheating act.
After the first encounter, that is referring to the day she
caught her father, according to her, “red handed”, “the man
has become extremely good to her.”My requests get
express attention without the kind of delays they used to
suffer in the past.” Gbemi said.
“I have felt strongly to report at some point to my
mother because the lady in question is somebody she
knows and interacts with at least twice a week. However,
I’m seriously afraid of a broken home and the toll the
exposure would have on my mother’s fragile health.” Gbemi
said, in response to why she hasn’t told her mother yet.
After her call, you can only imagine the reactions that
trailed her revelation. The women that called in were
sharply divided as to the right to do. Some claimed if they
were in Gbemi’s shoes, they would damn the consequences
and tell their mother. Others said Gbemi did the right thing
by not telling her mother. They said Gbemi should confront
her father instead and hope he would listen, if not leave, she
should leave him to his conscience.
So over to you dear lovely people of Nairaland , what do you think Gbemi should have done or should do?
If you were in Gbemi's shoes, what will you do?

A home where the father and the mother are separated and don't make joint effort in making the life of their wards better.

She can create a setup and get her mother to catch him red-handed herself.

Instead of demanding materials things from the dad, she should make a list of demands to give her dad, eg. Taking her mum out regularly, coming home early, asking the lady to stop interacting with him and his family.
