No One Can Get This Question Correctly, Have A Look. by isaco(m): 10:03am On Sep 28, 2014 |
A lady bought goods worth ₦200 And paid the shopkeeper with a ₦1000 Note. The Shopkeeper had no change on him So he went to John his neighbour and collected ₦1000 change in ₦200 denominations, With which he settled the lady and she left. A little while later, John came back angrily after he discovered the ₦1000 note he was given by the shopkeeper was fake, And demanded a replacement. To avoid trouble, the shopkeeper had to give John another ₦1000 and destroyed the counterfeit which had no real value. Question for genius: How much has the Shopkeeper lost in total? |

Re-calculating He sold #200 worth of goods and was given #1000 When he divided the money into bits (#200 into 5 places) He only gave the boy #800 meaning he still had #200 with him So he lost #200 worth of goods #800naira given as change to the buyer #800(+ remaining #200) reimbursed to his friend #1800 |

He sold goods of #200 and was given #1,000. He got change from his neighbour and offered the customer #800 and kept #200 to himself. When his neighbour came with the fake #1,000, he'd to refund it with his own money meaning he lost #1,000 plus #800; Ans= #1,800 |

FrancisTony: He sold goods of #200 and was given #1,000. He got change from his neighbour and offered the customer #800 and kept #200 to himself.do you realise the storekeeper did not get any money for selling goods worth 200naira,remember he destroyed the fake naira note. |

Princecalm: do you realise the storekeeper did not get any money for selling goods worth 200naira,remember he destroyed the fake naira note. Think again. He got #200 and gave the customer #800 i.e losing #800. He now tore the fake money meaning he lost #1,000 i.e #1,000 plus #800 equal #1,800. |

Re: No One Can Get This Question Correctly, Have A Look. by Princecalm(m): 11:51am On Sep 28, 2014 |
FrancisTony:let me make it easier for u,let say he had the change and did not go to make change from John. That means after the scammer bought the goods worth 200naira with 1000naira note and received balance of 800naira,then after the scammer left he discovered that the 1000naira note given to him was fake and then decided to tear it since it was useless,is means he lost 1000naira.it is just the samething as saying a customer comes to your shop and you just gave hm 800naira and an item worth 200naira because the 1000naira note he gave to you was useless. |

He sold 200naira goods to the lady who gave him 1000naira note but he did not have change and so went to meet John who gave him 200naira in five places from which he gave to the woman, which means he is left with 200naira,then John came back that the 1000naira note was fake and the store keeper gave him his money. It is also the same thing as saying the shopkeeper had no change and then asked John to lend him 1000 naira in 5places,if he should give the woman 800naira he would still be left with 200naira,then John came later to ask for his money and the shop keeper gave it to him. Then the shop keeper discovered the 1000naira note given to him by the lady was fake and decided to tear it. |

OP! The correct answer is #1000, the only cash from the shopkeeper is the 1k he gave John to exchange for the fake 1k. That means he has #200 with him for the sales of the product. He only lost 1k |

isaco: OP! The correct answer is #1000, the only cash from the shopkeeper is the 1k he gave John to exchange for the fake 1k. That means he has #200 with him for the sales of the product. He only lost 1kThe fake 1k he tore is part of his loss. He also lost N200 worth of goods. Add that up, makes N1200 + the 800 he gave out in change to the scammer. All together, guy lost N2k |
Re: No One Can Get This Question Correctly, Have A Look. by Superstar007(m): 10:07pm On Sep 28, 2014 |
nickz: Re-calculating Right here is your answer. In simple terms, the woman robbed him of 800naira and 200naira worth of goods. Then he dashed 1000 to his friend so total money lost is #1800. Loss incured is #2,000. If you no still understand, e mean say one mama for villa dey use your pic do handfan. |
Re: No One Can Get This Question Correctly, Have A Look. by ZERKNICHTER(m): 10:28pm On Sep 28, 2014 |
he lost between 800 and 1000 depends on how much he has paid for the goods 1. he gave 1000 (200 goods and 800 change) for nothing 2. he exchanges nothing with 1000 3. he exchanges 1000 for nothing -1000 but i guess he has not paid 200 for the goods he sells for 200 so it might be less |
Re: No One Can Get This Question Correctly, Have A Look. by ZERKNICHTER(m): 10:32pm On Sep 28, 2014 |
Superstar007: if he has lost 1800 who has gaind that money during the process? the scammer gaind 1000 and john gaind nothing ------------- and in case the 1000 naira note would be ok, he would have lost nothing till the moment he destroyed it how can u lose 1800 by destroying a 1000 note? |
Re: No One Can Get This Question Correctly, Have A Look. by Superstar007(m): 7:52am On Sep 29, 2014 |
ZERKNICHTER: The money was fake, so its just like he was given ordinary paper in exchange for genuine money. If the money was genuine, his friend wouldn't have collected #1000 from him, he would have gained #200 from the goods he sold and the #800 he gave to the woman wouldn't have mattered. |
