Hello fellow Nlders and OAU students. It saddens heart experiencing what is currently going on in OAU campus.Since our resumption on August 24th,there has been epileptic supply of power and water in the campus.Recently, there was a general power outage in the whole of Osun state and for the next two to three days, there was no light but since then that the light has been normal, the light inside campus hasnt been the same.Whats is painful is the fact that the management hasnt communicated any information to the students as regards this power failure and the ineptitude Student union hasnt done the same.
Circa 2008 when i first entered OAU,the light then was very okay and 30minutes power outage results in student outrage then. What added salt upon injury is the fact the student paid a very small fee then but now that we have an astronical rise in fee,the light is worse. It is a shame on the so called intellects, yet they abuse the politicians of same.I dont have to state the importance of electricity as it goes hand in hand with academics itself and all other forms of schooling activities.Where are we to cook our foods, charge our phones so that our parents and colleagues can keep in contact with us as regards academics and general wellbeing. How do we charge our laptops and phones so that we can read the various ebooks and gathered materials. In these environment, learning is no longer conducive and we deserve better with the high amount we pay.
There are other issues that needs to be ironed out like the terrible water we get in various hostels, but first things first they say.The school should be shut if the basic necessities cant be provided for. What pains most is the silence of the students,we should shun class and sit in front of the senate building daily till the light is regular and normal.Where is the aluta spirit we all clamour for individually. We should not be silent,we should not be cowered and intimidated.
As fellow student we should demand for our right,a conducive learning environment that we paid for.Lets us take this upon ourselves. As regards this,i request that this should make front page and fellow students and nlders should provide means in which we can write petition to the Nigeria university commission, the federal ministry of education, stakeholders and relevant authorities. Thanks and God bless the hustling
