The walking dead hit the streets of the
Warehouse District in Minneapolis on Saturday to
set a new world record for the largest gathering
of zombies.

A grand total of 15,458 flesh-hungry participants
shuffled along closed off streets as part of the
annual Zombie Pub Crawl event.

Billed as the “world’s greatest undead party” ,
participants were kept entertained by DJ Steve
Aoki and rapper Juicy J on two outdoor stages
bars with food trucks, clubs and bars along the
route also participating in the event.

The gathering beat the previous record of 9,592
set by the New Jersey Zombie Walk (USA) in
Asbury Park, New Jersey last year.
Under the rules for the record, all participants
needed to wear zombie costumes or make up,
with the make up needing to include at least
white face, dark eyes and red colour.

As all those taking part also needed to be in
position simultaneously and remain so for a
minimum of five minutes, Minneapolis created a
zombie zone, sealing off an area from 3rd
Street to 6th Street and from Hennepin Avenue
to 2nd Avenue specifically for the record
attempt count.

Founded in 2005, the annual Zombie Pub Crawl
event had previously set the record in 2012 with
a gathering of 8.027.
