Nigeria national football team got a harsh welcome on arrival from angry fans following their show of shame in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan in Khartoum. Stephen Keshi’s men failed to re-launch their bid to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as they brought down to their knees by their hosts thanks to a first half strike from Bakri.
On arrival at the Nnamdi Azikwe airport, Abuja,Goalgathered that they were almost mobbed by angry fans as the soldiers stationed at the airdrome had a torrid time dispersing the crowd.
The team have now lost two games after three qualifying games and will miss the chance to defend the trophy they won in 2013 if they fail to win all their remaining games in the qualifying series while their group rivals drop points.
Nigeria now sit at the base of Group A in the 2015 Afcon qualification on one point. Sudan are in third spot while South Africa are the new leaders on seven points followed by Congo on six points.
Keshi’s men are expected to begin training on Monday morning ahead of the reverse fixture against the Sudanese on Wednesday.http://m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/5180272
