After breakfast, Tara went upstairs for a bath. As she bath, she thought of how best to sneak out without anyone seeing her. She wore a jean and white shirt to the nursery. There, she saw Jordan.
'Daddy, see mummy'
she bent and placed a kiss on his forehead.
'Mummy, you didn't kiss daddy'
She laughed and brushed her lips against Jordan's. He sighed and drew her to him.
They stayed a while with their son and left an hour later after putting him to sleep. Outside the door, Jordan drew her to him and kissed her.
'Mr Nicholas, I need to sleep too'
'Miss Joseph, what do you say about another morning with me'
'No, I...'
'What's your price?'
'Dinner, in one of the best restaurant in town'
'Just that?'
'For now'
'Okay', he said and held her hands. He was almost running to his room when he came face to face with his mother.
'Jordan?'
'Hi mother, I want to have a talk with Tara'
'A talk you say?'
'Yes'
Alice saw right through his lies but said nothing. She stood there as Jordan pushed his door opened and draw Tara in. Alice almost smiled. She walked away to her room
'Your mother would suspect'
'She won't'
'She was smiling'
'I don't care about her Tara. I want you now'
'Jordan...'
'Say nothing, let's have fun'
Jordan was trembling as he removed her trousers and clothes.
'Do me a favour'
'What?'
'Just lie still let me take you to heaven, I don't want you disturbing me at night'
They made love, slowly at first then fiercely later on.
'I'm sure you will kill me Tara', jordan said sleepily. She laid still and tried leaving the bed.
'No, stay. Please'
'But Jordan, I should go and see about lunch'
'Leave it to mother and Sarah. Just sleep'
An hour later, when she was sure he was asleep, she slipped out of his arms and wore her clothes. On her way out, She met Justine and Sarah.
'Tara, you should eat, you will need strength for that exercise', Justine said.
'What exercise?', she asked innocently
'The one you and Jordan just did', Sarah said
'Is it that obvious?', Tara asked
'Yea. Let me advice you. You can use this opportunity to make up with him. Start by packing your things, little by little to the room. Before he knows what is happening, you will be part and parcel of it. I'm speaking from experience', He said looking towards Sarah
'Hmm, and I have him now'
Tara frowned then laughed. This was her opportunity to get out. She knew Jordan, he won't be awake for another hour.
'Justine, as a matter of fact, we might skip lunch. I'm out because I need to get something for us to eat'
Sarah frowned. This wasn't Tara, she wouldn't just say anything about her s.x with Jordan. She knew instantly that Tara was up to something.
'Are you okay?', Justine asked.
'I'm fine. Don't worry about me'
They went away. Tara went to the kitchen, picked some fruits and snacks, then went back to her room where she kept everything on her dressing mirror. She had a shower, dressed in a green tank top and black jeans. She hurriedly applied powder and lip gloss. Tara took her phone and her purse, locked her door and went downstairs. She saw Shan.
'Ta morning, where are you going to?'
'I'm tired of staying indoor. Using this opportunity to buy my soap at the store down the street'
'But uncle Jordan said'
'Hi Shan, I am your sister before he became your uncle. Where does your loyalty rests?'
'Ta I'm only looking out for you'
'Then don't. I won't forgive you should anyone appear and hinder my going out'
''Ta...'
'Shan, where does your loyalty rests?'
'With you'
'Good. Tell no one you saw me leave this house'
'At least tell me where you are going?'
'To see Joel', Tara said and disappeared to the gate. She looked so serious as she walked.
'Madam good afternoon'
'I don't care for your greetings, not after what you did to me'
Abel was confused. Jordan had warned him not to let Tara out of the house.
'Madam are you going out?'
'Yes, any problem?'
'Its just that Oga Jordan said...'
'How dare you? I'm I a prisoner in this house?'
She removed a thousand naira note and gave it to him.
'Go to the store at the end of the street and get me irish spring soap and a pack of cornflakes'
The man stared, Tara glared.
'Madam, I am a security guard. I can't leave my station. What if oga needs me to open the gate for him?'
'What? You just disrespected me? You won't let me out and you refused to get them for me? Jordan must here this. I promise to make life a living hell for you'
Abel began trembling. He had worked for the Nicholas for eight years, he knew Tara for five years and she was kind hearted and sweet. She had never for once raised her voice at him.
'Madam, what I am trying to say is that you should send the maids'
'They are all busy preparing lunch. Now out of my way'
The man slowly stepped away as Tara went out. He didn't think to report the matter immediately. After all she was only going to get a few things at the end of the street.
Outside the house, Tara laughed mischievously
'Poor Abel, you fell for my trick'
She wasn't happy though. This time, she knew that she had further caused a strain in her relationship to Jordan. She had lied to everyone, but Tara was determined to have a talk with Mich. The thing is, she didn't know her lecturer's residence. It was a funny thing but Dr. Jeremy Maxwell was her lecturer and she had carried over his course once. The man was hard-working and believe that every score must be earned. She had vowed never to carry over his course again. What a coincidence, she was now going to his house to see her sister-in-law.
Only one person can give her the address to Dr Maxwell's house-Joel. She boarded a taxi to Maitama hospital. Joel was glad to see her.
'I'm leaving this place within the week. I can't lie helplessly while Mich is no where to be found'
'I sent her away Joel'
'What really happened?'
'Please Joel, I will tell Jordan to bring me here tomorrow. Now I need a favour from you'
'What?'
'Your Lecturer friend home address'
'Jeremy?'
'Yes'
'Why?'
'I failed his course'
'You want to bribe him? You know you would be wasting your time? He never takes bribe. Go back home and study'
'Please Joel, trust me and give his adress to me. Please, I risked Jordan's anger to make it this far'
'Jeremy hate it when his students visit him at home'
'Please, Tara said almost in tears.
'Okay Tara. I won't have you cry for me over this issue'
He gave her Jeremy's address.
'Tell him I send you. You are my sister-in-law'
'Thank you'
She left the hospital and boarded another Taxi. It was 4pm when she finally alight at his gate. She paid her fare and knocked the gate. A man in his late thirties opened it.
'Good evening, please is this Dr. Jeremy Maxwell's house?'
'Yes'
'Is he at home?'
'Yes. Who are you? His student?'
'Yes'
'Sorry, you can't see him. Can you meet him in school tomorrow?'
'No'
'Sorry madam. That is his rule'
'Tell him Mrs Nicholas is here to see him'
'No'
'Tell him I said, Joel sent me and I have a message foe Michelle'
He went in and came back almost immediately.
'Come in'
'Thank you'
She followed the security guard inside. Mich must listen to her.
'What do you want Tara?' She turned and saw Mich washing at one side of the house.
'To see you'
'I don't wish to ever see you'
'You will talk to me Mich. Do you know that we are all sick worried about you?'
Mich poured a bucket of water over Tara.
'You Tara, I hate, now disappear from here'
'Tara took another bucket of water and poured it over Mich.
'I risk my marriage to be here. I'm not stepping out of this house without you. I wrong you, I'm sorry but please come back home'
'No'
Jeremy and Joan came out. He was shocked to see them. Tara didn't even care he was her lecturer anymore or that she was dripping from head to toe.
'Ladies, please don't fight in my house', he said.
'No Jeremy. This is my house and the two of them have no respect. Don't worry, in a few hours you will be gone'
'Joan what do you mean?'
,Nothing', she left them and went back inside.
'They hard a knock at the gate.
'Great, jordan has found me, I will be in for it', tara wailed.
'Jay, check who is at the door', jeremy told the guard. While the door was opened, jeremy urged Mich and Tara inside to change clothes.
They heard gun shots and screamed
