Apple a few hours ago at the Cupertino event, announced the latest additions to the iPad family – iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 and surprisingly the devices with the most advanced Apple technology will be available at very reasonable prices. The iPad mini 3 will be up for grabs starting at $399 (about N64,000) while the iPad Air 2 starting at $499 (about N80,000).
The iPad Air 2 is known to be the thinnest tablet in the world with 6.1mm thickness (also is the breathe-taking Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet - 6mm) with the iPad mini 3 featuring Touch ID finger print sensor, an 8MP camera with wider aperture F/2.4 for wider viewing angles and image capture (also sports a front-facing camera with improved sensor. This is also enhanced with advanced coating to reduce reflectiveness in bright lights and still maintain crisp visibility and is also incorporated with the latest Apple’s fastest A8 chipset for even highly improved and efficient performance.
The iPad mini 3 with Retina display which will be available additionally in gold option features a 5MP iSight rear camera for HD image capture and a high definition front-facing “FaceTime” camera. It offers a 7.9-inch display size and 7.9mm thickness (not as thing as the iPad Air 2). It also features Touch ID finger print sensor and Apple Pay.
The earlier models of iPads will continue to be on sale as announced by the Chief Executive and available at reduced rates. The iPad mini will be available starting at $249 (Wi-Fi Only version), iPad mini 2 starting at $299, iPad mini 3 starting at $399 (latest), iPad Air starting at $399 and iPad Air 2 starting at $499 (latest).
The Pre-order for the iPad devices will start Friday October 17, 2014 across Europe and the United States and shipping commences in a week.
