Real Madrid’s goal-scoring
machine, Cristiano Ronaldo, has
several records in sight which he
will be looking to break in the
2014/15 season.
Having already drawn level with
Alfredo Di Stefano and Telmo
Zara for the highest number of
hat-tricks scored in the Spanish
La Liga (22), Ronaldo is in line to
make the record his own, after
scoring at least three on three
occasions this season already. He
could be scoring another hat-
trick any day now…
Besides that, the 29-year-old has
13 goals in six La Liga games this
season, averaging 2.167 goals
per game. If he continues to
score at that rate, he will easily
surpass Lionel Messi’s record
haul of 50 goals in a season and
could potentially even hit the
back of the net as many as 80
times.
The Portuguese star is also
fourth on Real Madrid’s all-time
goal-scoring list in the Spanish
League . With 190 goals in 170
appearances for the club. Raul,
who scored 228 in 550
appearances, will see his record
obliterated in nearly half the time
it took him to reach his total by
Ronaldo if his former teammate
can, indeed reach the 80 goal
mark this season.
The final record Ronaldo can
break this season is also
currently held by Raul. The
Spanish forward holds the
record for most goals scored in
the UEFA Champions League,
with 71 strikes. Ronaldo’s tally is
currently 69 and, given that Real
Madrid have a minimum of four
games to play this season,
Ronaldo can easily add two more
strikes to match the former
Spanish captain’s record,
considering that Ronaldo’s goal
scoring ratio is 0.66 goals per
game in the Champions League.
Ronaldo already holds the record
for the most goals scored in a
single European campaign, with
17 strikes in 2013/14, and is the
all-time leading goal-scorer for
his country, with 51 goals.
However, if he manages to
maintain his form and keep
himself away from the treatment
table, Ronaldo may just set a new
precedent and outperform the
high standards that he’s already
set himself in his illustrious
career.
Which records do you think
Cristiano Ronaldo will break in
the 2014/15 season? Have your
say in the comments section
below.
