Two hot festivals, one growing industry...Nigeria's movie market is fast developing

Two major events highlighting the phenomenal development of Nollywood and its spin-offs were concluded in Abuja, the Federal capital of Nigeria, establishing Nigeria in the international calendar of movie expos and festivals. The Nigerian Film Corporations Zuma Festival took place in March, and the Best of the Best Television Programmes Market (BOBTV) Festival also took place in the same month.

The Zuma Festival was actually the third edition of the National Film Festival, renamed Zuma Film Festival after the famous Abuja Zuma Rock. Sponsored by the Nigerian government and directed by John Oluwabgemiga, the event began with the opening address by Frank Nweke Jr, the Minister of Information and National Orientation at the Abuja Le Meridian Hotel. …
