Who And What Is ‘God’? The name: ‘God’ is a revered constituent of the English lexicon. In every African culture, there is a sacred name by which The Maker of all things is known. It is unarguably natural for man to identify The Source of life in accordance with his conception of His divine nature. The African philosophical perspective on the existence and supremacy of an All Powerful Being who determines the fate of everything varies from one culture to another. As such, when, for instance, Yorubas call Him Olorun (i.e. ‘Olu Orun’), the underlining philosophical conception is that He is the King of the supreme plane of existence that governance all other planes of life. Similarly, when Binis call Him ‘Osanobuwa’, the conception of His Being is set within the context of supreme and insurmountable ubiquity! What is the etymological origin of the name: ‘God’ in English language? What is its spiritual connection? It is imperative for Anglo-colonized Africans to ask these very important questions and to attendantly seek the correct answers, for ignorance of the cultural/ philosophical roots of a non-African name that they revere (by the dictates of colonial orientation) as the identity of creation’s Highest Spiritual Entity is either an open door to manipulation in the hands of owners/rulers of the alien society to which the name belongs or a password to divine bliss and plenty! The state of African society after several centuries of chanting ‘God’ in every supplication is a basis to question the name’s spiritual potency and the genuineness of the religion that served as the cultural vehicle for delivering it to African society and psyche. This article is purely an intellectual exercise intended to help African thought transcend the restrictive realm of ‘believe-without-questioning’ where the fear of concocted blasphemy and phantom hell-fire as drilled into the modern-day Negro skull by Christian missionaries, Bible, Pope and Cardinals, is king over knowledge, liberty and courage! Africans do have the right to ask why their collective existence is characterized by poverty and squalor in contrast to the affluence that is synonymous with modern white civilization. Is it the same ‘God’ that black man calls upon that white man patronizes? Why does ‘God’ respond generously to Europeans and ignores black people’s protracted cry for help? Does ‘God’ discriminate? Is the name racist? Is ‘God’ alive? What is homosexuality doing in the house of ‘God’? When will ‘God’ teach modern black man how to be organized and inventive? Will ‘God’ ever terminate war and destitution in Africa? Does ‘God’ have power over the grand paradox of more churches and escalating calamities? Modern history tells us that those who introduced the name: ‘God’ to Africa were part of the gang that raped and looted the continent of its wealth. Africans’ knowledge of the existence of The Almighty pre-dates the advent of European enlightenment and expansionism. Black man knew good from bad long before the dawn of Anglo-Saxon invasion of the motherland. He had in-place established modes of communicating with The Creator for several millennia before European monarchs conceived and approved the idea of ‘introducing’ their Christianity to him! He called on Abasi; Olodumare; Oghene (etc) for solutions against challenges through divine mediums and got quick and effective responses! Today, the story is different! Africans have abandoned their indigenous cultures and their respective stock of priceless values for alien ways of life that promise to deliver them to ‘God’ and ‘gold’ in the cold and lifeless pit of death! Of what importance is the idea of assuring someone the full payment his savings and accumulated interest after his burial? Why must (black) man die to see ‘God’? Part of the stories that European Christian missionaries told their African congregations was the promise and certainty of divine restitution in gold- plated ‘heaven’ after a lifetime of suffering on earth, sequel to being certified “Righteous” by ‘God’ on judgement day! If truly there exists a place somewhere outside this realm of existence called heaven where bliss flows in absolute abundance; where streets are tarred with gold; and where opulence is as common as sand, Europeans would certainly not have revealed it to their African counterparts! They would have speedily relocated themselves to the eternal and infinite paradise, leaving black people to contend with the hazards of a world that is bound by time and space, where hard-work is a major currency for transacting success! So if ‘God’ resides in this logically inexistent heaven of cascading plenty, it simply follows that white man’s ‘God’ actually identifies an abstract entity that is morally consistent with his personal agenda! There is a very huge world of difference between The Father of creation and the various labels by which man chooses to identify Him. The name by which man chooses to identify The Creator is the prerogative of man’s passion, agenda or desire. I here-emphasize that between creation’s singular, unconditionally loving, all- providing Maker and colonized black man is white man’s questionable ‘God’, whose spiritual sterility is proven by the continuous prevalence of woe and want across Africa despite daily chants of the name from Lagos to Limpopo! ‘God’ is a linguistic creation of Europe designed to facilitate the spread and permanence of spiritual bankruptcy among the less-privileged. In Europe prior to the advent of the revolutions that forced the Church to reform itself, the Bible was a coveted article of rulership! Only members of the ruling classes had access to the Bible. Subsequent events did compel Europe’s feudal aristocracies to make the book available to a broader spectrum of their respective societies’ citizenry. Interestingly, what ultimately came out of that seemingly kind and responsible decision was what was known as ‘The Poor Man’s Bible’, a watered-down (distorted) version of a ‘loaded’ document that European aristocrats used for gaining and exercising spiritual, political and economic power over their downtrodden masses! In essence, Church and society reformed themselves but power remained with the aristocracy! The relationship between downtrodden Africa and the questionable ‘God’ of affluent Europe is religious. This follows that for any African to be able to realize who and what ‘God’ is in actuality, he or she must collapse the walls of religious dogma that separate him or her from the daylight of mental freedom, undiluted truth and genuine knowledge. Religion is evidently one of the biggest enemies of modern Africa’s liberation and progress! When Europeans arrived Africa with Bible and Koran in hand, the agenda was neither divine nor altruistic but selfish and deadly! The pious-looking men (and women) from ‘Atlantis’ came with the core and cladded intention to rob, rape and enslave the motherland! Spiritual de-capacitation was high on their list of priorities, hence their vigorous and often violent demonization of indigenous African spirituality as a core strategy for setting the stage for the successful establishment of a barren alternative in the name of ‘God’. The Father of creation is unconditionally and endlessly passionate about His children. In-line with this truth, He always appears on earth in human form to save and guide them off the path of danger and tribulation. In secret sections of Europe’s intellectual industry lie hidden details of the consistent physical manifestation of The Creator in human flesh as Living Master. Jesus and Mohammed are not the only Messiahs that the world has ever had. There is a long list of many others whose messianic teachings quietly underpin the productivity, inventiveness and the overall opulence of Europe, North America, Asia and the Arab world. The current physical manifestation of The Father of creation is, by special divine grace, a Nigerian! Unfortunately, while the progressive world uses the world’s pioneer and most potent name for identifying The Creator to call the great spirits of creation to their continuous enhancement, brainwashed black man sticks to a name and its parent theology that were both used to raid, rape and ruin his fore-fathers! The verifiably super-powerful name: ‘Maharaj Ji’ is derived from Sanskrit, mankind’s first and most potent language. According to Professor John McWhorter, a leading American linguist, ‘Sanskrit is a language spoken over 180,000 years ago from which have emerged an estimated 6,000 languages being spoken around the world’. On his part, NASA scientist, Rick Briggs, speaking about the uniqueness of Sanskrit language in Artificial Intelligence Magazine, said as follows: ‘As we shall see, there was a language spoken among an ancient scientific community that has a deviation of zero. This language is Sanskrit.’ Sanskrit is recognized as the best language for computational linguistics and artificial intelligence by America’s National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)! Guru is a Sanskrit word meaning: ‘He who takes one from darkness to Light, while Maharaj Ji means: ‘King of kings of all hearts’. As a prime component of the slave-language (i.e. English) that was (and is still being) used to disconnect Africans from their roots and cultures, the name ‘God’, beyond sentiment and subjectivity, cannot serve and has never served black man’s progressive interest! It bonds with the spirit and logic of Europe’s desire to perpetually enslave and exploit Africa! ‘Olodumare’ is far more reliable than ‘God’. Same for ‘Tamuno’; Ubangiji; Oritse etc. Who and what is ‘God’? ‘God’ is a linguistic manifestation of European determination to spiritually possess and physically pauperize black man!
