Pastors. They are the greatest problem the church is facing. We must first appreciate that God is the owner of the church. Pastors are the representatives of God. A church cannot be better that its pastor. If the pastor is holy the church will be holy. If the pastor is immoral the church will be immoral. In the last twenty five years we have bastardised the yardstick of who becomes a pastor. Every dick and harry has taken on the title of the pastors thus making the church to bleed. In the secular world training is encouraged. A medical doctor did not just become one. He had to undergo rigorous training in the university. The same goes for all the professions. Unfortunately in the church somebody just wakes up without any former training to take on pastoral work because he is gifted or has oratory power.
Until each denominations sets up a criteria to monitor who becomes a pastor there won’t be sanity in the church. The charismatics and the evangelicals are more guilty of this. Even Jesus when he came to start his ministry chose twelve disciples and he trained them for three and half years. He trained them and even warned them not to start until they are endued with power and that came after the training.
Supposing you are travelling to London and you have already been checked in to the aircraft and the pilot gives you all the necessary information before taking off and adds that he never went to a flying school and that he was flying for the first time by chance and the goodwill of the owners of the airline. I’m sure everybody in the aircraft will scramble to get out. They won’t want to commit their lives to a pilot who never went to a flying school. Unfortunately many Christians are committing their souls to pastors that have not been trained
