Team Manager of Premier League leaders, Bayelsa United of Yenagoa, Rev. Philip Ebemobowei Affen, is upbeat in his club’s triumph over CAF Champions League two-time winners, Enyimba International of Aba last weekend in Ilorin, saying that the victory will propel them to achieving their set targets for the season.

Speaking to Leaguemania after the match, an elated Affen said it was a collective effort of the players, the management board and Bayelsa State Government that gave them the victory, even as he cautioned against complacency as they play their remaining matches before the December break.

The Man of God turned football administrator, also showered praises on the administration of Governor Timipre Sylva and his deputy, and extolled the professional touch from the State Ministry of Sports. He also admonished their fans not to be overzealous if they drop points at home to avoid further sanctions from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL).
“I am elated that after several attempts at beating Enyimba, we finally humiliated them by two unreplied goals this time around.

“In fact, I foresaw the humiliation coming when my players vowed to go top of the league table before Week 10 and with this victory, the sky is our starting point.”
Enyimba were the biggest casualties of the weekend, which saw two huge away wins, as they went down 0–2 at 'home' to the surging Bayelsa United. Heartland were the profiteers in the other away win, handing a thumping 3–0 defeat to Nasarawa United.
Referees finally went back on their decision not to officiate in games involving Enyimba following the violent attack on one of their members, but it was to prove less than happy times for the People’s Elephant.

Enyimba, under the charge of former Super Eagles’ Coach, Austin Eguavoen, did not even list top scorer, Ezenwa Otorogu on the match day squad, even though the striker travelled with the team to their temporary home in Ilorin.
They were also without defender Uche Oguchi, and the effect was clearly seen.
Stanley Ohawuchi fired Bayelsa into a dream lead against a dispirited Enyimba on the hour mark and the People's Elephant were left in disarray.
Olympic silver medallist, Chibuzor Okonkwo, put the issue beyond doubt with a thunderous trademark effort from a tight angle to seal the win.
