If you haven’t heard the name Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, you are sure to have heard of the name D’ Banj. He is one of Africa’s most recognized entertainers and you can’t help but notice this young man who is practically oozing talent from his every pore. He was born in the northern city of Zaria, Kaduna State on June 9, 1980 but hails from Shagamu in Ogun state, Nigeria. He dropped out of military school at the age of 14 to pursue his interest in music much to the displeasure of his father. He plays the harmonica, an instrument he was taught by his late elder brother, Femi Oyebanjo who sadly died in a plane crash at the age of seventeen.

His stage name D’ Banj was coined from his names Dapo Oyebanjo but he is also known as The Koko Master, igwe, Skibanj, and Eja Nla. His debut albu “No Long Thing” which was released in 2006 took the Nigerian music scene by a storm and a super star was born. He matched the success of this album with “Rundown/Funk You Up” in 2006. He attained international status for himself with his monster hit singles “Mr. Endowed” and “Scapegoat” as they topped music charts across Africa. He has many awards to his name among which are: Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007, Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2008. Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009, BET Awards of 2011 for Best International Act; Africa, MTV EMA for Best African Act in 2012.

He has revealed that his music is inspired by his mentor Fela Anikulapo kuti and as a tribute he uses...http://popafrica.com/popafrica-celebrity-focus-dbanj/
