Microsoft Announces Windows 9 Beta Release by Geestunnar(m): 1:56pm On Nov 06, 2014
Microsoft surprised the world
when they announced
Windows 10, which is basically
Windows 9, but they skipped
that name in favor of
something a little more edgier,
apparently. However, fret not,
as the tech company also
announced, more recently,
that they would release the
upcoming operating system in
beta form thanks to its
Technical Preview, reports
BreatheCast. The full release
for Windows 9/10 will hit
mid-2015, so the forthcoming
preview build will be a great
chance to try out the new
features and layout.
The Windows 9 Technical
Preview is currently being
called Build 9860, and will be
accompanied by a notification
center seen on the Windows
Phone, a keyboard shortcut
for app movement across the
screens, a battery saving
feature, a data use monitor,
and settings for Windows
Insiders. The data monitor
center is quite interesting, as it
will offer users the chance at
checking out upcoming builds
of the operating system as
Microsoft is working on them.
Microsoft announced the
Windows 9 Technical Preview
is available for download to
test right now, but will only
run until April 15, 2015. So,
interested users have the
opportunity to try out the
upcoming operating system
software for a few months
before Microsoft removes the
ability completely ahead of
launch. The company has not
announced an official release
date for Windows 10,
unfortunately. They did,
however, confirm that the OS
would work with all current
Microsoft devices, include
smartphones equipped with
“universal” apps.
The recent release of Windows
8 proved to be problematic for
users, as it offered a “different
environment” for desktop and
PC users, according to
Corporate Vice-President for
the Microsoft OS group, Joe
Belfiore. The operating system
looked and felt more like a
mobile device setup, which
made using it trick with a
mouse and keyboard.
Windows 9/10 has fixed that
issue, and will offer a “familiar
UI” for those users.
The upcoming operating
system should prove to be
quite enjoyable for the
majority of users. Microsoft is
taking certain aspects back to
their basics, allowing
consumers to work through
the new features in their
intended manner, such as a
mouse and keyboard on the
desktop computers. The
software release cannot get
here soon enough.
