Team UNIBEN consisting of a selected group of engineering students from the University of Benin, Edo state successfully participated in the Shell eco-marathon south africa in October 2014 and won a distinguishing award for best innovative vehicle design throughout africa with its made in Nigeria car called Ecocruise. Team UNIBEN has previously also broken a record when they attended the Shell eco-marathon Europe in may 2014 with its first made in Nigeria Tuketuke, making it the first team from Sub saharan africa to participate in the Shell eco-marathon. Tuketuke has innovative features like automatic windscreen wiper,button actuated gears,fingerprint access, ankara interior and fibreglass body.Both cars won all 10 technical and safety inspections that qualified them to race on the track. Winning the innovative deign award was an unprecedented breakthrough for the team and the nation in general esp as it relates to automobiles and the ever increasing demand for energy. They are currently taking yet another challenge to build two cars that will participate in another shell eco-marathon in the

lol.. any time one becomes a success, somebody will always try to be associated and be part of the glory.. you went to the extent of mentioning their name even... just like someone coming up tomorrow to say that he was Davido class prefect at school. anyway i think they are more innovative than the Unizik guys
