When Arsenal loses or draws a game many believe they should win, my mind drifts to the fact that they are the only top club playing without a defensive midfielder that is huge and strong. Something they had with Gilberto Silva and later Alexander Song. Chelsea has Matic and Mikel. Barcelona has Basques, Real Madrid has Khedira and Illaramendi, Juventus has Pogba and Marchisio. Southampton has Wanyama, Hull City has Huddleston and Livermore. Arsine Wenger agreed that he needs a physical presence in the midfield. I do not know why it took him so long to notice it. He waited until the transfer window closed before he declared it. Song was not replaced. I hope during the January transfer window, Arsene signs Wanyama or Imbula from Marcelle. delikay4luv:Despite the defensive midfielder being huge, the player has to be brilliant a technical with the ball. Mulumbu is not in that class. Arsenal play a possessive game and the huge defensive midfielder must be technical too. Look at Song, Gilberto, Fernando, Fernandinho, Vieira, Oliseh etc. |

Ibime:Mikel will be perfect for that role. He is huge, brilliant and technical. The Arsenal players have pace to suit his game and cover up for his lack of pace. That will give Arteta his chance to play his creative midfield role. |
