Cristiano Ronaldo has rebuffed claims that he has a private derogatory nickname for Barcelona rival Lionel Messi.

A new book about Messi suggests that the Real Madrid winger routinely refers to the Argentine with an offensive expression.

“This is absolutely false and I have assured my
lawyer takes action to sue those responsible,” the reigning Fifa Player of the Year wrote on Facebook.

Both footballers have ruled world football since 2008, with the Portuguese superstar claiming the Fifa World Player of the Year award twice- ending Messi’s run of three consecutive Ballon d’Or victories last year. Ronaldo is also on 71 champions League goals. Messi needs just two more goals to become the La Liga all-time record scorer, having netted 250 times in 285 matches is one behind Telmo Zarra’s record for Athletic Bilbao in the 1940s and 1950s.
