FUNICATING WITH EBOLA

About 2 years ago Morocco was selected to host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), from January 17 to February 8. But in 2014 Ebola arrived.

Morocco politely asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the game -- for just a few months -- to June 2105, to see if the Ebola crises could be brought under control. But because CAF officials had made lucrative personal deals CAF refused to postpone. Morocco wisely refused to host and is expelled.

Then, like a lunatic whispering for luck while diving into airplane propeller CAF decided that it is better to "funicate" with Ebola than to give up profit. FIFA, which would never have OK-ed such a tournament if Ebola was ravaging Europe, told CAF to find an African leader willing to sacrifice the lives of his citizens for the chance to stand on a podium at the opening ceremony smiling like a hyena.

GUINEA-BISSAU: First, CAF asked Guinea-Bissau to replace Morocco as host. Guess what? Guinea-Bissau is almost a part of Guinea and just one-door away from Senegal (2 of the 3 epicenters of Ebola). Thank heavens, Guinea-Bissau that has strangely avoided the Ebola crises in Guinea, turned down CAF's offer.

EQUATORIAL GUINEA: Then CAF went to President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equitorial Guinea. This man who became president by overthrowing and executing his own blood uncle in a 1979 military coup said, "no problem."

Guess what? Equatorial Guinea is one-door away from Congo, Ebola's source. Matches will be held at four venues in Ebebiyin, Mongomo, Bata and Malabo. NOTE: The capital, Malabo, is an island separate and far from the mainland of Equatorial Guinea. In fact, Malabo is on Bioko Island and is so far away from the mainland that it is just 32 miles directly from Cameroun, next-door to Nigeria.

If Morocco would risk expulsion from CAF in order to protect its citizens the least Nigeria MUST do is to have the Nigerian Navy (or whatever is left of it) patrolling our territorial waters on the Bright of Bonny from January to the end of February

Because the distance from Malabo to Port Harcourt/Aba/Calabar is about the same distance from Owerri to Markurdi...and there would be neither traffic jam nor potholes if another Patrick Sawyer decides to relocate from Malabo to Aba by boat.
