Insomuch that assymetrical warfare such as our military is facing is usually difficult to prosecute. It is incumbent on them to review and reassess their code of conduct, especially, with regard to engagement with non-combatants.Today, on the street in Abuja,I saw some military personnel beat up a motorist and couldn't help wondering if this is not how these troops are harassing civilians in the north-east.

In case they are unaware, in the theatre of war, one critical piece of intel from a privileged civilian informant could save the lives of troopers or even turn the tide of war.

In this sort of conflict, there are three groups of people, those who are for the government, those against and the undecided. Intimidation, harassment and extra-judicial killings would alienate the neutrals edging them towards extremism.Exactly what bh wants. Therefore,it is high time our military got their acts together.
